Weatherstripping........2001 Tacoma

the weather stripping is insanely expensive but its also very specific to the vehicle so you have few options. i replaced the driver side front and rear on my 2001 double cab with pieces i found in the junkyard. Even totally stripped tacomas tend to have useable weatherstripping left behind. plus I think I paid $5 a piece.

 

Ya I'll have to go take a look around the local scrapyards to see if I can find any tacos lol. They're getting hard to find in Ontario let alone a junkyard.

oh yes, they are ultra rare in junkyards and whenever there is one, it is already stripped of most of its parts by the time you get to it

 

Depending where in Canada you are, there is an amazing Toyota boneyard in Vermont....

 

yeah sorry i didnt see you were in canada. In northern California/SF Bay Area first gen tacomas are still pretty common on the roads and there are generally 2 or 3 first gen tacomas at any one time at a junkyard within a 100 mile radius. But yeah, these trucks get torn to pieces. i used to have a 99 Honda civic and while Civics are popular in salvage yards, its nothing like tacomas. Every first gen tacoma ive seen in a salvage yard is missing the engine and transmission, everything behind the cab, all the seats, and usually at least one door.

 

You can order almost all Toyota parts directly from Toyota and shipped from the dealer. Most of the time its cheaper than aftermarket and its the exact replacement.

Just sent him an email to see if he would be willing to ship some parts to me. I'm definitely gonna take a drive out there once the borders open up.

 

If you pull up Craigslist, NH (or Vermont) search Tacoma parts their ad will be there with pictures. Good luck

Summit Racing carries the W/strip. I went the Ebay route & got the 2 door kit for 50.00 less.
