Has anyone replaced their door weatherstripping? Does the old seal come off easily or (?). It it fairly easy to re-apply the seal to the appropriate location or should I chalk out the position of the old one before I remove?

Any tips or insights would be greatly appreciated.

Not talking about belt-line window trim - talking about the big flexible rubber door to cab seal.

I just replaced one of mine. There is a dimple or line on the weatherstrip. Make a mark with a pencil on the door sill, where the line is. Pull old strip off. Push new strip on, paying attention to the mark you made. It's super easy, takes just a few minutes.

The old just pulls off and the new goes back on. Nothing complicated about it. Note: the weatherstrip does have rubber caulking in it from Toyota. So when you pull the old off......don't be surprised to see some of the residual rubber caulking left on the truck body. The new (Toyota) weather strip will have the rubber caulking already in it....so no need to worry about putting some in it. You will need a rubber mallet or equivalent to tap the new back into place.

Same question. Toyota part isn't super pricey but Amazon item is definitely inexpensive. If its a completely different profile / shape, I will stick with the Toyota part - if the stuff is pretty universal, I will go with the generic.

Pay the extra price and go with the Toyota premolded weatherstripping. It was designed for you truck....meaning Plug-n-Play. Plus, it's not like you will ever replace it again (hopefully).

Look for a paint dot on the weatherstrip. That is supposed to be aligned to a certain point on the body when you install it. Typically, that point is near the upper, rear corner of the door opening. There is usually a notch or some unusual feature on the body at that "datum" location.
Depending on the model, the channel width of the weatherstrip may or may not be sized to match areas of the body where there are more than one body panel overlapping. In other words, the weatherstrip cross section may be wider where there are more than one body panels. That is why it is important to match the paint dot to the datum location on the body.
If there is no paint dot, you should be okay just starting anywhere. If you end up with extra, meaning a "hump" when you get back to the starting point, just smooth it out in both directions. It just means you pulled to hard when installing.

I'm in the same boat. Most of my seals are blown on my 99. I need new door seals and a new front windshield seal. I'm willing to pay, but dang, I wasn't expecting the seals to cost more than the bumper

Anyone able to locate a good OEM or GOOD parts number for this weather strip yet?

My drivers side stripping is chunked and torn. Need to swap it out on my 2000 Taco. Post a link, put up a parts number, throw a life preservar here

The parts book is online! By the way, I replaced my driver side door weatherstripping with OEM and the gap was never right (door now sticks out a bit). I did save the 15 year old seal and one of these days will put the old one back on.

I wonder if it sticks out now because the latch has worn over time.
