All, Well i've finnaly torn my drivers door seal. The cheepest Toyota seal is arount $150.00 Does anyone know of an aftermarket seal that is good enough for my truck? I know that the extra cab and double cab use the same seal.
    thanks

I was just thinking about this myself. Luckily mine is in good condition still, but there will come a time it'll need to be replaced.

The seal is only torn on the area just in front of the drivers seat. Next time i hit a salvage yard I will cut off a section and see if i can splice it.

I have this kit from Fairchild. Matches OEM. The only difference is they put some kind of like foam inside areas of the weather stripping. The size for the opening is spot on and they trim it to match OEM, like the area for the door sill cover. The only thing I have found is that because of the foam that is placed inside the weather stripping, the door takes more effort to shut. I’m waiting to see if the foam is designed to break down and provide a better fitment to area that normally break down faster. I will be reaching out to the company to ask a few questions. As of right now, I am undecided, they fit great, just questions the foam that is inserted.

I’d like to add that my oem weatherstripping had foam inside on the top rear corner, held in place by a rubber pin. Same thing along the windshield area. Looks like some soft, closed cell foam rope.

Well, on that note, I guess they are same as OEM. Any chance I could get you to note on a picture exactly where your foam is? I checked mine out, and noted there is no plastic securing the foam in its location. I also noticed they are not in the exact locations you mentioned, but I am able to manipulate the foam. I’m sure the reason the doors are harder to close is because the foam is not in the proper locations.

Hi craig, I actually did take photos but it’s probably going to be a minute or two before I can make time to find them. I want to emphasize that they were held in place with one or two flexible black rubber (not plastic) pins per segment of foam. The rubber pins were like .75mm diameter rod with a flat head in one end and a cone on the other to retain it.

Awesome, thank you. I messed with mine a bit and got the to a rough estimate of where I think they may go. I’m hoping that after I see your pictures, I them will stay in place when I get them set. Who knows, I could always try to run a needle and thread through it and it may work. Thank you for grabbing pictures!

I got these as well, same experience that it requires closing the door harder.

Yeah, I honestly think it is because where the foam is currently sitting. I didn’t realize there was foam in the factory weather stripping or I would have made note of the location before I tossed them.

I was careful to put them back the same as oem, still have to slam the door with everything in the correct orientation.

Relating to the first picture, the drip weatherstrip on top (believe that is what you call it) comes loose my passenger side here and there. It's new OEM from Toyota. Is there a substance I can put on to keep it from pealing off? Thanks

I don’t think that was me referring to that piece, but I’d just use some silicone

Awesome! Thank you for the pictures. I have moved the small piece to the corner before. The foam pierce for the windshield is much further down, so I will move that up and report back. How long have you had yours in? Do you have any issues with shutting your doors?

Installed about a month ago, doors require being closed harder. When I initially installed I didn’t realize there were the thickened foam pieces and installed them incorrectly and it was very difficult to close them, knew pretty quick something was off

I did the DS side Toyota seal a while back also, and my door takes a bit more effort to close also. I just figured that was due to the new seal being so much better than the worn out old one.

Resurrecting this thread to check on any results about door rattles. Thanks to the stiff Pro Comps and the absolute crap conditions of roads around south Indy, my doors rattle like crazy. I’ve checked all the mechanicals (I used to install auto glass so I’m pretty familiar with all that) and everything seems to be nice and solid. My next guess is the door seals are just flattened.
Did anyone here notice that improvement after installing new seals?

Any idea of what type of sealant/caulk would be comparable to what comes inside of the OE weatherstrip? I have an area of the cab/door weatherstrip that allows water to migrate up under, and into the cab. I need to pull the weatherstrip and take care of some rust that has formed on the pinch weld in that area but would like to reapply whatever sealant that is afterward.
