The gray seems to fit my eye better.

I had gray initially but they lost their shape after a few years so I called up Weathertech, sent them some pics, and they sent a new set but this time I got them in black. They changed the design a little and look very nice in black.

    secret stuff.
I just ordered the front and rear black for my crewcab. I like the contrast as there is enough gray in the interior, and they will compliment the arm rest mod and black/charcoal wet okoles when they come.

Here is what chaps my ass about Weathertech: Try to find their warranty on their product on their web site. Ain't there. So I got it from them, and here it is:
    Warranty:
WeatherTech® FloorLiners™ are guaranteed against faulty materials and workmanship for a period of three years from the date of purchase. Exclusions to this warranty are wear through due to severe abrasive conditions, chemical contamination, such as spilled gasoline, bleach, etc. We are reasonable people and we believe in customer satisfaction. Depending on the situation, we will either replace your, FloorLiner™ atno charge or charge you a prorated amount for a new pair. Thank-you for your business.

I have found that after ~2 years, my heel always wears through the driver's side liner. I asked Weathertech if this "normal heel wear" would be covered by the warranty and they answered "NO". So, Weathertech treats normal heel wear as "severe abrasion" under its warranty. I wrote them and told them I thought it was a shame that they didn't mold thicker pads under the driver's heel. By not doing so they were consciously building a short life into the product. A wasteful path to higher sales. But then again, I am not and will not be a repeat buyer.

No, I threw them away. Once you get a hole in them, they're toast. I tried gluing pads onto it but nothing sticks.....tried all kinds of glue. And it looked like shit. They intentionally don't pad the heel on the drivers side so they can sell more. They told me as much....said they would sell me a new set, no discount. Duh.

I definitely see your point, but damn, what were you wearing? Tap shoes? Are the mats really that fragile?

I have the grey ones. They work well, but show seem to show dirt and wear a bit more then a black set would

This is the scary part...I don't wear hard soled shoes.....always Ecco's or New Balance.....your heel puts a lot of wear on a certain spot as you heel and toe the gas pedal and brake.

Has anyone modded the floor mat to work with a clutch pedal? Please post a pic.

What I would like to see is a Weathertech modded with a rubber pad or patch glued to where the heel rests.......if this could be done successfully, I would buy another one. Hint: Silicone based glues do not work.

Weathertech has a firm control on the market for their products. You will not find the front set for less than $117.00, including shipping, ANYWHERE. Even on Ebay where Weathertech also sells. If you order them on the internet, the site you place the order with will simply pass it to Weathertech who will drop ship it. I think this is one reason why Weathertech's are so expensive - the price includes a payment to middlemen resellers. I think the full set is ~$177.

Interestingly, HUSKY has a "digital fit" floor liner on their web site that appears to have a heel pad built into it! Problem is, it isn't offered....yet....for the Tacoma. I have no idea if it ever will be.

    http://www.huskyliners.com/

I just wrote Husky and asked them if and when they would offer their new Weatherbeater version (similar to Weathertech's Digitalfit) for the Tacoma. I will report back.

It is unfortunate that they are so costly and really dont have any direct competition for the custom cut stuff...but for a guy like me who lives in Minnesota and deals with mud-snow-sand-etc so many months of the year, I need something that will protect the carpet etc.

After several cars with the stock rubber winter floor mats (and watching the sides near the door get destroyed because its not covered) these will be my first weathertechs. Ive read so many damn good reviews that if I can get the expected performance....well...I guess its worth the cost.

    Time will tell. High expectations.
