Soooo, I ordered a set (front and rear) of the WeatherTech "No Drill" mudflaps for the Tacoma SR (without factory flares), and they unexpectedly arrived today, so I was like a kid in a candy store and rushed out to get them installed.

I mocked up the front drivers side to get a gauge on fit, and you'd think they were OEM. Get all my tools together, take out the two factory screws in the wheel well, and following the instructions, go to install the underbody screw, and "you've got to be kidding me." There's a blank, square hole.

So now, I have to delay my excitement, go to the stealership tomorrow, and buy part number 90189-a0002 to complete the installation. WeatherTech really should provide that part, but I have to say, the flaps are the bomb!

I just don't want anyone to get a bat in the face if you get these.

I'll post pictures tomorrow after I hit the dealer for the part, and get them installed...I'm very encouraged by the design/construction, and in particular, the use of existing mounting hardware/locations...

It’s possible that you received the wrong ones. I ordered weathertech and when I received em had the same problem, the website doesn’t really define what has fender flares and what doesn’t. It’s a terrible picture and I called weathertech. They were very helpful and said that I did indeed have the wrong ones

I purchased the same ones for the front and back and ran into the same issue. Talked with WeatherTech and after some back and forth, they ended up sending me the plastic inserts at N/C. If you don't want to wait for snail mail, may want to pick up the inserts at the dealer.

Same thing happened to me. Weathertech sent me the inserts, no charge. I mounted them without them first and the flaps were still secure and tight.

I have factory ones I installed and they don't rub, plus they fit ok with c4 sliders and 265/75/16s. And I've sat the truck on them (not on purpose, several large rocks on trails) and they sustained only minor damage.

I've been running mine for two years without those screws. It's fine.

I also ordered the weathertech mudflaps for my SR5 WITHOUT fender flairs. They fit perfectly and look good. However, I also was missing the center inserts on the front mudflaps.

I called weathertech and asked them for the inserts. I was told those inserts are a Toyota stocked item and not available from weathertech. I told the rep that others had received the inserts from weathertech. The rep told me that they do not stock Toyota parts.

I ended up going to my local Toyota dealer and purchased the two inserts.

    Hi,

We’ve received a limited amount of complaints with the underside grommet missing from Toyota. Local vehicles tested and observed all had these grommets installed. We decided to take this on a case by case basis and adjust accordingly. Going forward, we’ll reevaluate and determine what to do. Obviously, complaints are here but we haven’t received many through our customer service department.

    Old one,
As for the CS representatives giving you false information and not responding correctly or doing due diligence to escalate the issue and get more information. I apologize. Completely unacceptable.

We have stocked a number of parts kits on hand to address these missing grommets.
Please give CS a call and we can get these shipped out to you immediately if needed at no charge.
    Weathertech
    (800) 441-6287

Let the CS rep know how many grommets or parts kit you require.
    · WT Parts kit #48MF552 contains 2 bolts
    · WT Parts kit#48MF100 contains 2 grommets

    Fastenal also stocks these grommets:

    Apologies for the issues,
    Wally

    UPDATE!!

Got them installed today and I have to say, they fit like OEM, they install like OEM, and they look like OEM. Even the provided screws look like OEM. I was particularly impressed with the rear flaps, as they are perfectly molded to the factory chip guard. I thought they might look a bit "goofy," but quite the contrary, they flow with the lines perfectly.

If you order them, be prepared to have quantity 2 of Toyota part #90189-06013 on hand, or remind whomever you order them from that you need the parts indicated by WeatherTech above.

    HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

By the way, be careful tightening the screws, as the plastic grommets will strip. Once you feel the screw snug up, stop.

And, if you are like me... the dumb-assed, snot-nosed 14 year-old that was paid way too much to install the mud flaps, could not figure out why he had 4 screws left over when he was done..... (Hey ass hole... there are screws holes that are supposed to go straight upward, behind the flaps..)) I guess they do not train the "PDI monkeys" as to what they are supposed to do, eh....?

I didn't have this problem with my WT flaps on my 2017 SR no flare Util model. All screws and all grommets were present.

I just used some double sided tape to keep them from rubbing there, the other screws held the fronts in just fine.

I will say up here in salt country, the screws weather tech provided rusted really quick last winter. I took my flaps off for the summer, before I put them back on this fall I de-rusted and painted those screws black to match the OEM.

Overall very satisfied with the no-flare flaps, good look and fit at a fair price.
