Its winter and that means snow. Lots of snow. We want to replace the OEM floor mats in the wifes Tacoma with something that can handle a little more liquid than the OEM ones. I have read threads on both brands. Just curious which one is more popular around here.

I did read ones that popped up. Found a review on OEM vs Husky. Didn't see one on the differences between the two. Also didn't see any poles on popularity between the two.

Husky's protect the drivers area better than the Weathertech's. The Weathertech's protect the rear carpet in a double cab better that the Husky's.

Thanks for the comments. I have owned both in a few different Vehicles I've had over the years. I have the weathertechs in my F-150 and I like them a lot. Fit is great.

We we had Huskies in the last car and they worked okay. Fit was decent. I also had them in my old Chevy. Only problem I had was they were the tall ones and eventually the edge matted down after getting in and out of the vehicle numerous times.

Whatcha mean? Any pix? I honestly would like to know.

I've been thinking about upgrading for some time. Like to know which has actual better coverage and not just someone promoting one over the other because it's the only one they've tried so it has to be better than the other. o_O

Husky have a non slippery texture as well, and don't have gaps letting stuff underneath. As far as pics I haven't had Weatherfails since 2014

WT are of a stiffer material, slid more, didn't fit as well as Husky XAct liners whic are superior IMO.

So I used it on my CRV before and its basically the same material as WeatherTech, Have you thought about MAX-liner? https://maxliner-usa.com/ They make pretty good products its cheaper than Weathertech and I think they still offer a Limited Life Time Warranty. Not too sure about Husky but Max-liner served me pretty well.

I've owned all three, but in different Toyota models. Based on my experiences owning all of them and being in friends' vehicles with them, I would choose in the following order for the following reasons.

    1. Husky - Excellent protection high up the firewall and under the driver's side pedals. More flexible material than WT' allowing it to form better to the shape of your vehicle and not bow on raised unsupported parts of the vehicle such as the driveline hump. Also, material allows your foot, or anyone's for that matter to not slide easily while trying to get in your vehicle especially if your shoes are wet. This is important because if you have your foot planted at anything lower than a 90° and push off on your foot, you may find your foot slipping on the mat. I have fallen backwards more than once on my WT because of this and so have family members.

    2. Weather tech - Covers more area than stock in all areas. Is sturdier than stock but somewhat too rigid. This rigidness can make it difficult to remove in some vehicles especially a one piece rear seat one. This makes it challenging to clean. Also, these as well as husky are very easy to clean. I currently still own a set on a current vehicle and everyday regret my decision now that I have husky in my newest. Still not a bad purchase since I bought them more than once, but I just never tried husky beforehand. The rigidness of these also cause areas where the mat goes up a wall like the driveline area to slightly bow away from the wall in some spots. I really don't like this because I clean my vehicle a lot and don't like having to take out the mats to clean under them. After all, that is the purpose of a mat. To catch as much as possible from hitting the carpet

    3. OEM - Less coverage, more grip than WT, easy to clean, and last place because coverage matters. These also move around more than the top two.

I have both. I notice no real appreciable difference between them.

Thanks for all of the replys and votes. Looks like Husky is the clear winner.

I had both. Husky in my 2017 and weathertech in my 2016. I prefer weathertech. The problem you are going to run into with both is the holes for the anchors on the drivers side. Liquid could leak through unless you silicone it or something.

I have the Weathertechs. They work pretty well, but I have a couple of things I'd like changed.

    1. I wish the front mats went further under the seat. When the seat is all the way back, stuff can drop straight down and get between the mat and the carpet.

    2. The mats have some type of top layer and I've rubbed a hole with the heel of my right foot through that thin top layer. Now it hasn't affected the function of the mat as the hole does not go through all the way, it just doesn't look as good as it used too.

    3. The mats don't really clean all that well. I can pressure wash them, let them dry, and you can still see a little color of mud ingrained in the texture of the mat. Maybe if I scrubbed with soap, they would get cleaner looking.

If I were to buy new again, I would probably try out the Huskies, but I'm betting that they aren't really any better. They would have slightly different problems, but not really all that better.

All that being said, I think either will do the job fine. Both will be better than OEM.
