My wife and her brother are out having fun in the Lincoln National Forrest near CloudCroft, NM. She ended up taking the Tacoma since we had a few last minute issues connecting the Alu-cab RTT to her roof rack on her 4Runner. I wish I was with them, but my rig is taking good care of her on their journey and her brother's Tacoma is taking good care of him.

Oil change complete. Now onto the headlight fogging issue. Upon removing the headlights I see why there is condensation in them. The silicone I used failed around the body of the headlight and where the lense connects to the body. I have cleaned them up and am now in the process of drying them out before I re-seal and re-install.

Headed out tomorrow to spend the weekend and New Year's in the Ouachita National Forest. We have our route planned through the GAIA GPS App on my iPad. Getting the rig packed up this afternooon and excited to be spending time in the forest. Pictures to follow from our journey.

I don't believe he has an account but he lurks :spy: around reading stuff. If there is anything you want to know about it, let me know. He has the inside of the shell built out in custom cabinets.

Is that a wildernest on it? seems like I've seen a couple of those before. Would be cool if you could get some pics of how he built the inside of it. If its a hassle though, no worries! Just has me curious, nice looking truck

Here are a couple of photos I do have of the tent deployed. My brother-in-law sewed all new material as the original materal unfortunately molded due to it sitting so long. His sewing skills are incredible as he did a great job and also added on a built in awning which you can see in the first picture. I don't have a great photo of the inside but the 3rd photo shows you a little bit of the wood work he has inside there. His dog's name is Townes in case anybody is wondering.

We had a great trip into the Ozark’s. We explored dozens of forest roads and enjoyed all that the forest offered. We put just over 1,000 miles on the rig. The snorkel paid for itself as we crossed several streams a few feet deep in some spots I wouldn’t have attempted without it.

MPG’s with all the gear really suffered (about 9.5 - 10 mpg). A hard north wind certainly didn’t help. However, my wife and I discussed the entire way home different ways to save on weight on the next trip. Some of our camping gear is heavy and some of our storage containers (covered ammo cans) really add up in weight the more we talked about it.

Overall the rig did its job well. We did suffer some minor damage. I drug the rear bumper going down a steep incline where at the bottom the factory 7 pin towing harness got nearly ripped off. It pulled the wires out of the connector itself. This had a lot to do with the angle I took the truck at and the weight I was carrying in the rear. I’ve already ordered a replacement since I tow a boat and our OverLand trailer.

Part number for the factory harness is: 82169-04010

    Onto the pictures:

Got my trailer harness replaced last night. Took about 20 - 25 minutes. Pics of the old one. You’ll see how the faceplate that the 7-pin connector is mounted to pretty much got ripped off. Also the wires got stretched out, but it still works. If anybody wants the old one, just PM me or reply here.

Gonna do some wrenching on the rig this weekend. Going to be installing my ARB Diff breather, performing the DIY Kazoo noise fix caused by air coming through the passenger door and a few more misc. items.

Photos to document everything to follow.
