They are actually - so yeah, didn't really think of that option - thanks for pointing it out. another hole properly sealed under the track would work. I'll check out that grommet. Appreciate the advice.

Update: I tidied up the install over the weekend, including moving the load bars further apart so the antenna can fold back instead of perpendicular. For the coax I ended up feeding through the vent in the back of the cab (which meant removing the plastic behind the seat insert). I had some grey rubber wire cover for the camper top, but it was way too big - so I'm just leaving it bare wire for now. I ended up keeping the amplifier behind the rear seat. The internal antenna I stuck to the back of the center console arm rest. I'll find a less obtrusive cover or maybe just leave it. Next I'm going to work on hard-wiring with a custom switch.

I have the overland mount. Works great with my Martin rack and can rotate/depending on how you mount the base.

I’d also be interested in hearing if you find a quick disconnect solution.

I have an ARE shell with the Yakima rack but I don’t use the racks anymore so my roof is the same bare tracks you have the antenna mounted to in your most recent picture. I run my truck through the car wash frequently and I resorted to just using the magnetic fin antenna so I can take it down more quickly.

The magnetic fin antenna works pretty well but I have always wondered if the mast antenna would give me better results in terms of signal strength.

I was thinking of mounting the same way, but was curious how stable it would be. Have you had any issues? What mount did you use? Thanks in advance!

I used CaliRaisedLed ditch light brackets. The antenna bolts right up to it, I can't recall but I am pretty sure no modification or extra hardware was needed.
I've driven through all sorts of crazy head and cross winds, gone up to 100mph, been off roading, smacked tree branches with it and had zero issues.
The spring on the base lets the antenna flex so nothing seems to hurt it.

The problem I did I have though was when I mounted the in cab antenna/transmitter on my dashboard above my radio, the external antenna was interfering with the in cab antenna. So I had to move the in cab antenna to my overhead console. Apparently if both antennas are close enough with a clear line of sight they can create some kinda feed back loop that messes up the system.

Pulled the trigger on this to see if it helps with low coverage areas. Seems a reasonable price to pay for. Bit of convince and safety on the trails.

I am thinking of mounting mine the exact same way. How has performance been for you with it like this? I was even going to try shortening the antenna length to make it a “stubby”.

Look at my post previous post in this thread for how this setup works.
Also you don't want it short, you want it above your roof line. The antenna uses a 360 degree signal so if it's shorter than your roof you are loosing a ton of potential signal.

not sure how I missed that post. Thanks! Do you leave yours on all the time? Been through a car wash? Good to know the bit about the infinite loop situation with antenna placement.

I run mine through my Auxbeam controller so I only ever turn it on when I need it.
I never go though soft touch washes because of my roof rack so I can't speak for what a car wash might do to it.

I really like the looks of the antenna on the ditch light bracket near the windshield! I have a truck with a camper top but no rail, and do not want to drill into the topper for an antenna mount.

I have the same booster but originally used the magnetic fin antenna. I changed to a 12” magnet mount antenna and experienced better reception. On company vehicles, I have the giant antenna you guys are discussing mounting. When compared to the magnet mounts, it does even better with improving your reception. If it isn’t too obtrusive, run the bigger antenna!

I overall like the setup and glad I came across ssd2k2's solution here. With that being said I totally agree you don't want to go any shorter, it's just high enough to be effective. I am still tweaking where to permanently affix the interior antenna for best reception inside the vehicle.

I leave mine all the time however, it can be easily unscrewed from the spring and the connection point on the coax as well because it falls just under the hood if you wanted to go through the carwash, it would take you know more than 30 seconds.

I needed something super low profile for my build that would allow me to fold the WeBoost mast down so I could park in the garage. With nothing on the market I designed and manufactured the part myself. Albeit, mine is mounted to the top of my Super Pacific camper, they're compatible with many of the popular roof racks on the market. Head on over to ASG Offroad if you're wanting a super low profile WeBoost mounting solution :hattip:
