No fan. It basically got lost in the early emails around the time what model fan was going to be sourced and wasn't added to my order. I was actually on the fence about adding it anyways cause I see hail multiple times a year and was concerned about the plastic cover getting destroyed, especially with the more intense sunlight at elevation baking the plastic. I may be overly paranoid about it but after dealing with my grandmothers RV vent fans, I'm good without it.

Everything else has been great. I have a multi-day trip coming up to really put it thru its paces.

This hail storm is literally the day after I got back..

I opted to not get a roof fan because I had the same concerns as you. I don't see any big hail but didn't want to take a chance of the fan getting hit or something and being stuck with a big hole in my roof.

… meanwhile, I am thinking about adding a fan to my second-hand #11 to get airflow while parked and we leave the dog in the back while out for a mountain bike ride.

Anyone know how thick the aluminum deflector is and how it's attached? I can stop by a friends place with a press brake to make one, but I'm not sure how I would attach it.

VHB tape? They literally use that stuff to panel non-riveted aluminum trailers.

Yes, I'm obviously a big fan of VHB. No, I don't have any investments in 3M (or anything, actually).

Man, the who escapes me at the moment, but I know someone on TW has documented adding a fan DIY to a Drifter after taking delivery. It may just take some searching.

looks like it’s $7500 with a $500 deposit. Appears only short bed versions are available on their website.

Saw these guys pop up on IG yesterday too. It’s Cool idea but a lot of tent material compared to other wedge campers which is kind of a no go if you are camping in the rain in snow. Curious to see the inside as well. Also wonder if they plan to open it up to any other platform beside 3rd gen short beds

For those of you with a DCLB, do you store anything low profile in front of your camper on the roof?

I have one of those waterproof roof bags and keep both of our inflatable paddle boards up there from time to time. I usually strap it down between a couple roof rack bars half way over the cab, on the overhang and had way over the front of the camper (if that makes sense)

The weight being further forward makes it easier to open the top with extra weight on it.

what are you thinking good storing all the way forward?

Until I build my swing out for recovery gear/propane/gas I was thinking about throwing my recovery straps up there and out of the way in a super low profile something or other. I like to keep all of my muddy, dirty, not-used-every-day gear on the swing out but I’ll be changing vehicles soon and don’t know if/when I’ll ever blow the time and money on a swing out again. We shall see.

I plan to get a rack from Sherpa to put there in the near future and then store recovery gear and extra gas there. Depending on space, I may also mount a solar panel.
