put 2 people inside the camper with it closed to lift it and move towards the rear, two outside, then transitioned to all outside is how we did it, depending on what camper there is a lot of forward weight. 4 can do it

    Just the basics
Not sure what you mean by outside mount placement. I don't mount my table outside. It rides inside my truck on trips and I just slide it out when making camp.

Was thinking about adding an extra Lagon mount on the back side of the sliders or the rear bumper.

That's a good idea for a small table!

Does anyone know of a "hinge" I could use on a side bench top so it could be opened from both inside and outside the wedge? Like a dual action lid hinge?

I couldn’t find anything off the shelf, but I just had an idea on how to make it. BONUS, the lid can be fully removed as well… hard to draw and explain right now and I need to get back to work.
Buy me a beer and show me your wedge and I can explain in person :)

I have ideas in the head I need to put to paper too, just trying to locate something off the shelf for the time being...

This is a simple piece of dowel attached under the lid and a router to make the channel it sits in on the inside vertical wall where a hinge would mount…

In the places I needed access to a cabinet from both inside and outside, I just hinged them to favor the outside access. Yeah, it's a minor inconvenience from the inside, but I can still get around or over the cabinet lid to access everything inside just fine. If I had done it the other way, it would have been impossible to access from outside.
I also used removable hinges so I can always just take the lid off completely if needed.

You would do this with wood and conventional hinges.

You would build a hinged frame that holds the door.

And then you would mount a door onto that frame w/ hinges on the opposite side.

    EZ PZ.

Actually, it's super cheap if you use 4 sections of generic 1/2" L bracket or something. You'd only need to do 4 welds. Otherwise you can accomplish the same thing with 8020/extruded framing material.

    ------------
Another way to accomplish this is to use a Lift Top Coffee Table hardware. When you're outside you'd use the liftop component and it would open inward.

From inside you could use it as a desk/table. Then also add a hinge so that it can simply open by angling upward from the inside if you don't want to use it as a desk/table.

I have my RTT on my bed rack. Do you really have to be in the cab to have your signal/hotspot boosted? The idea was to be able to work out of the tent and plug the 12v into the jackery when I dont want to drain the tacoma, but If the boost doesnt make it out to the phone outside the cab might need to return it.

in the photos we had it temp setup, so she has it beside her, so she is working with it. you need to be close to the 'boosting antenna' but you can move the whole unit around. we have since 'hardwired' the antenna in and have them set up so we could use whist driving and outside at camp (the antenna cable is fairly long etc) will probably set up another antenna that we could attach to the wedge and get it up higher when needed.

we have one unit we move between our two trucks - so have antennas set up on both trucks. so you can move the unit around - the antenna cables are quite long - and do what you are talking about no worries i would think

little bit of info about my antenna installs post #118 here

Hey guys, I just put a deposit down for a wedge camper for my (new to me) 2.5 gen DCLB. I have a ton of vehicle living experience but never in a truck and plan to full time in this after building it out (currently in a class A RV but lived in several vanagons, etc). The RV is just too big and can't get me to the places I want to be. So my question is: should I get side doors or just sliding windows? Pros and cons? I think I can get windows built into the doors if I want... Would this be the best of both worlds or an invitation for more leaks/issues?

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Being someone that also spends a lot of time in their camper. I could really enjoy the gull wing doors I have. If I could have everything. I would have some kickass dometic windows that open all the way up, installed into my doors.

I guess where I am going with this is, my whole inside setup was built so I could reach in from the sides and not go diving into the back.
I spent 95% of my time around the truck and the other inside when weather blows or I am asleep.

Give yourself full access my brutha!

    Drifter....ARRIVED!
We had a vanagon before our drifter, which we've had for 3 years. I love our windoors that pop up and if we had to do it all over again, we'd get them again. We have gone a ton of places that we would never have taken the vanagon and can thoroughly endorse this approach. We actually access our fridge through the windoor and I don't think a sliding window would make that very easy. Our windows are solid and I would do that again too. We are not hard core off roading people, but I'm still suprised at how many times we've pinstriped our vehicle in tight spots on places like the WA state BDR (backcountry discovery route....one of those placed we'd never take a vanagon). The solid windoors are no worse for wear. Congrats on your order!
