    Greetings Folks,

I'm a new Toyota Tacoma owner, and long time lurker on this forum.

As an introduction, I am a former owner of a 1992 Volkswagen Eurovan Campervan that my spouse and I purchased in 2017 and had restored in preparation for retirement. However, even with the extensive restorations, we grew weary of the regular need to deal with regular mechanical issues and began looking at alternative adventure rigs, which lead us to this site and Wedge Style Campers, using a Toyota Tacoma as the platform for the camper.

After extensive research, and after selling our VW van this spring, we purchased a 2017 Toyota Tacoma Access Cab TRD 4x4. With the US - Canada Border closed to non-essential travel from Canada into the US, we began looking at options of outfitting our Tacoma with a wedge-style pop-up truck topper camper. Due to the closure of the border, and long lead times to acquire a commercially produced wedge-style camper, we approached a fabricator in Nova Scotia Canada to commission the build of a wedge-style camper. I was able to glean significant information from this site in terms of specifications, etc.., for various types of wedge-style campers, including diy and commercially available campers.

Working closely with the fabricator, we are nearing completion of the build. The tent was installed today, and I anticipate the build will be completed at the end of this week. Once the camper is installed on my truck, and is fully operational, I will post images of the camper.

If anyone has any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to reach out.

I would like to thank everyone who has shared their experiences on this forum with the various commercially available, and DIY wedge-style pop-up truck topper campers. The information that you provided on this site was of tremendous assistance in drafting the plans for our build.

    Fair Winds,

I tried several times to to upload images on this thread, but was unable to. Take a look at this link to instagram, where there are images of the camper:

    https://www.instagram.com/novascotiawedgie/

I will add that I polished the camper to get a better finnish, however, I am still not happy with the finnish. I plan to have the camper wrapped this weekend with a matte black wrap, which will be the same colour as the black fenders on the taco.

I commissioned the build with HANDSPIKER's Fabricating and Welding, Upper Clements, Nova Scotia. They have a Facebook page if you are interested. The entire build cost $12,000.00 CDA,and included the "kitchen shelf / counter" which the fridge fits under.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.

We have used the camper a lot since we had it installed on the truck and are very happy with it, with the exception of the finnish. We have used it in heavy rains, traveling at highway speeds and there has been no water penetration into the truck bed.
