Weekly Photography Challenge Thread (see first post rules and then the poll at top before entering)

Good work to those who tried this week! Shadows turned out to be a tough one...

WillT: Great interpretation of shadows. The symmetry is great and the contrast
really makes for a clean photo.

pkjr: Really nice photo of the pup! I kept coming back to it wishing it was a
bit better lit. The eye contact and composure of the picture makes me
want to get to know your pup

4lo: Looks like a great concert! For me, it feels like a snapshot and doesn't
pull an emotional response. There are shadows cast here but not exactly
what I was hoping for.

Cold Iron: Great work getting the pup to hang out for you! Bummer it didn't turn
out quite how you were hoping. I love the shadow! Your white balance
or colors seem off to me, lots of green. Also try again maybe and
light up the pup better

OneWheelDrive: Nice color and texture! Very nice shadow shot simply put.

m3bassman: Really liked this Ben. Feels like im in a tent and there's a killer
cat on the prowl haha! Is that burlap? great texture and another
great shadow shot, simply put.

BuzzardsGottaEat: Your story man, really brought out the emotional response from
the photo. But without the story I feel like i'm a bit confused
by the photo. Great work getting the shadows to work though!
It is a very unique photo. For me it is missing something
defining.

krap22: Same subject or not it's a nice shot. Better lighting would help you here.
Try bringing the light a bit more in front of the pup. It's a bit more of a
sillhouette than shadows imo.

jeremy1ns: Great photo! But for me, missed the shadow mark. The eye contact and
odd position makes me wonder what happened after this shot haha.

chenbro: Beautiful photo! Exactly what I had in mind for shadows. Only thing that
could have made it for me was back up a bit and get her full shadow.

medic2230: Nice candid shot Murph! Great exposure and use of his game to light the
scene.

Jmed109: Missed the shadow mark for me. Maybe if you had backed out and gotten more
shadows in the frame that sort of made the lizzard blend in it would have
been much better.

skidooman: Beautiful photo! Another excellent example of shadows, and this weeks
winner! Great use of light and the shadows really texture the shot nicely.

hgfontana: I really liked this shot. Great example of a shadow. Lighting and contrast
is great, and I like the symbology.

NiceGuyEddie: Where's the shadow/s? looks like he just wants you to play!
really nice shot otherwise

Blackdawg: Nice lighting and contrast, I like the way the shadow is really sharp
near the bottom and fades as you move left, good work.

Rich91710: That is quite the building! I wasn't sure how to go on this one. The
lighting is excellent and there are tons of shadows cast here. It just
didn't pop shadows at me when I kept coming back to it, I was too sucked
into the texture of the buildings!

JoeTacoma02: This is a great candid shot. I get a good feeling of her day looking
at this shot. The black and white really lent to the shadow scene. Great
shot overall

I also appreciate the feedback each week and I have agreed every time with everything said about the pictures I submit. Besides the learning experience I love the great pictures that others submit and learn from those too.

 

Great job everyone! I know this is a minor "contest", but having an assignment for the week has made me really motivated to carry my gear with me and I've ended up with some great non-contest photos as a result. Looking forward to the next one!
