Weekly Photography Challenge Thread (see first post rules and then the poll at top before entering)

I could be wrong, but having read through the thread it seems it was established to challenge each other to develop their skills as photographers. Trying new techniques, experimenting with Angles, F Stops, and Lenses I will admit that most of the photos I have submitted are taken from my cellphone…heck the challenge I won was taken with an older I phone before the cameras became much more precise. It probably worked in my favor that there was only one other entry though hahaha. Something about a 50/50 chance. Regardless, there are some incredible photographers who post in these challenges. Some shoot for a living, some for fun, others like me have used this thread as an inspiration/opportunity to work on my abilities using my 35mm. It’s in that spirit that we compete. In reality, winning just means more work. Because once you enter you have to commit to logging on to this thread to choose the next winner. Who has to commit to logging in to choose the next challenge…unless you want to get nudged…or meme’d…or disqualified.

Non-entry my new favorite picture, taken at my youngest son’s wedding with his bride and older brother who stood in as his best man.

 

I saw a smaller one yesterday with less defined colors. It came flying in and landed on my grill. I got to see it's chest and wings fully extended when it was stretching. It kinda looks like a broad-winged hawk too. The interwebs says that they are very hard to tell apart.

Well broad-winged hawks eat small mammals, so I guess it's the "Day of great feasts" for all the chipmunks and field mice around lol.

Honestly reminds me of the "Big Red" soda/pop but looks like cola.

 

I will say this, we could enter the exact same photos each week with a different person picking the winner and more than likely it wouldn’t be the same photo chosen as the winner. Different people see things differently, that’s what keeps it interesting.

When I have to pick a winner, sometimes it's between 3 or 4 pics, and it's really hard!!! Unfortunately only one can win!!

 

Agreed, when I joined this thread, the first subject that I had was "long exposure" hardly ever shot that subject, since then I shoot it all the time, so yeah, this thread gets you out of your comfort zone,
google some and have fun doing it!!!!

 

Entry: Puppy Dreams

 

Broad-wings look quite a bit different from Cooper's hawks. They are less lanky, and have shorter tails.

The ones that look like Cooper's hawks are sharp-shinned hawks. They look almost exactly like Cooper's hawks, just smaller.
