    Entry: Spotted this skink while hiking today. Spring is in the air in NC and the critters are starting to move about. We also saw a black racer snake on the same hike but he didn't stick around for pictures

    I’m no expert that for sure, but I came to the conclusion from the lack of dark patagals when it was in flight, witch helps me with red tail juveniles and the finer baring in its feathers. Also the head wasn’t so dark….?? I’m not sure now?? I know there are many morphs, entry withdrawn from confusion …….???

    (grey hawks are in this area, next ridge over are black hawks)

    It’s really hard to tell for sure from those photos, but if I was betting, I’d put my money on redtail. But I wouldn’t bet much. ;)
    You don’t have to withdraw the entry just because there isn’t a positive ID on it.
