    Daaaang Murph! Awesome shot!

    Here's my entry:
Haven't been using onions very much...forgot about this guy in the fridge then decided to let it grow to see how big it got. :p It's got a few mold spots now so it's going in the trash...
I'm not used to shooting indoors and getting the artificial lighting right, but I'm liking my current setup with my LED mono spotlight on a tripod. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Great shot Kevin! I really like the use of light to black out the back ground. I would like to see the subject be lightened up a little so it doesnt get lost in the back ground. Just my personal taste. Either way great shadows and great shot.

Thanks! Yeah I tried to lighten it up but the parts that are already bright came out way too harsh for my taste. If I were to do it again I would've shifted my spotlight up higher on the stems so that the tops were more well-lit.

You have LR don't you? You can brush over just the onion or just certain spots you want highlighted and brighten them up a little.

Haha, oh yeah...guess I can do that. :p I even used the adjustment brush to black out some objects in the background! I didn't even think to use it to lighten up the onion. I'll play around with that. Thanks!

I use it a lot when my portraits shadows and highlights aren't quite what I want ha post up when you've got a finished product. I'd like to see a comparison of what you come up with!

That's a rad shot! I've never been able to get the results to be as sharp on the edges of the frame with the 50mm reversed method. Is that a significant crop?

A lot of good stuff this week. Thanks for playing guys! Like I have said before, I am terrible at critiqueing, so sorry.

    The winner...

Murph!!! Great shot! Even though I hate dandelions, because I know somehow, everyone of those stupid little seeds will end up in my yard.

Thanks! That's no crop at all. I used F/8 to increase the DOF. It was dark as hell trying to focus it though. I increased the shutter speed to drop the ambient in the background. I just happened to get the flash power right on the first shot. I took a second one at F/11 and could barely see it to focus.

Thanks Kevin! I really like this onion shot too! That came out really nice. I like the re-edit with the lighter green a lot.

I know I'm too late, but I shot this before the deadline and just got a chance to post it today. I've been traveling a lot lately for work. I just want to share the pic I guess.

Wow! I didn't expect this. Thanks TJ! There were some great shots this week! Great job everyone. I'll have to come up with something right quick for the new one.

Yeah they were everywhere in my yard and cutting grass yesterday all I could think about was all those seeds dropping everywhere. lol
