Ok, It's been 12 hours here's the challenge.

    Technical aspect- Lighting

Let's learn to light our subjects. Subject can be anything you want. Get creative guys!

There are a few ways you could approach this theme. One way would be to look for a scene with interesting natural light. Perhaps ambient light is focused on part of the scene, or sunlight is highlighting something in the frame.

If you have access to a flash for your camera, or access to some lighting equipment, things can really start to get interesting. Using artificial light sources allows you to control exactly where the light falls in the scene. This can really help emphasize the subject and convey the feeling you are going for.

Another approach would be to use backlighting. You can accomplish this by using artificial or natural lighting. If you are shooting on a sunny day, you can use the sun as a backlight.

Not exactly sure if this qualifies or not but I took this picture of the sky yesterday. Just standing in my back yard. Point and shoot with my real camera set to "auto" because I honestly have no clue how to work this thing. And no photo editing because... yeah, I have no clue how to do that either. What you see is what you get :)

For not knowing how to work your camera, that is a fucking awesome shot! Reminds me of pre sand storms in IraQ. haha. Great one.

Some great pictures this week already! Been playing around with lighting the last few weeks so this challange is good timing. Have 2 100 watt LED 5K bulbs in clamp mount work light shades that I've been using but it just isn't enough most of the time. Was going to clean my bird hunting boots and decided to try and take some pictures of them first, really struggled with the lighting. Was going to run to town and purchase 2 more lights\shades and make stands for them and remembered that this is at least the 3rd time Pete has mentioned bouncing the flash off the ceiling. Did some research and still thought no way, especially on a popcorn ceiling. But it certainly has worked well for Pete so I added that to the 2 work lights. I will certainly be doing a lot more bounce flash in the future! I like how the 2 lamps behind and above the boots bring out the grain and dirt between the pebbles. And the bounce light doesn't wash out the effect. It's a start at least, still learning and enjoying the experience.

Took this last night. Took two exposures and merged the two -- one for the clouds and one for the moon detail. Borrowed my brother's canon f2.8 70-200mm lens on my 7d body.

Moon exposure was f8, 1/400th sec, ISO 100. Cloud exposure was f4, 1/5th sec, ISO 100. Both at 200mm obviously.

Thanks Pete! Hey wait you want me to take the flash off the camera!? j/k I had thought about that to move it around for different effects such as shadows but hadn't considered the effect of distance from the ceiling. Thanks once again for your help!

Was in Vegas for a few days for my brother-in-law's bachelor party (he's marrying my sister - been together for 14+ years) Statue of Joe Louis inside Ceasars Palace. No flash, using the hotels lighting..
