at least is an original idea! I really like all the trees plants and buildings but there just doesn't seem that many original ways to shoot a vertical line!

    I like it!

P.S. Not knocking anybody pictures! there are some awesome shots this week!!

You guys don't make this easy....

During the panoramic challenge I did a vertical pano and ran into distortion issues and discovered that shooting vertical subjects can create distortion based on FL. Apparently that is not an issue for this group LOL. I also was looking for perspective based on distance but told Monte that I felt it would be too difficult to add to the challenge so did not to keep it simple. I have nothing critical to say about any of the pictures submitted so I will not be much help there.

Murph- That is absolutely stunning! I love the color, contrast between subject and background and everything else about it, fantastic job.

Ryan- I'm glad to see you found some inspiration and well done! I like the vertical lines of the subject and background both and how they are different in widths, good job.

JoeTacoma02- I don't think you should feel ashamed of that picture, at all. Great job phone camera or not! Good eye to catch that.

Pete- I never would have thought to look UP a tree for vertical, what a great job thinking outside the box! I also really like the perspective of distance and the horizontal contrast of the branches. And the framing is perfect too IMO.

Ben- Fantastic use of the sky as a background to bring focus on the subject. As seems common with your pictures when you do that I get a sense of peace and calm. I really like it.

Marc- All week I looked at opportunities for taking vertical subject shots, and trees are what I kept coming back to. The whole way from Foundation to Eau Claire and back one day I looked a lot of trees and couldn't find many shots that I felt would work. The undergrowth was just too thick. Self pruning pines are perfect to get a sense of being IN the trees and woods, I like it!

Jason- Perfect all the way around. From the beginning where the arch creates an entrance for the eye to the arched door at the end. Sense of perspective created by distance. Symmetry and sense of balance and no distortion which can (at least for me) be easy to get with a shot like that. Brings back memories of sitting in drafting class with a parallel edge, triangles and isometric drawings.

Everyone did outstanding but I have to pick just one. So I pick Jason as the winner this week because of the many elements that his picture has in it, fantastic job!
