Here's my effort. I blew out a candle on thanksgiving and watched the smoke make some crazy vortex patterns and got an idea. I used a headlamp as the light source and a black cutting board as the background and took over 1000 shots to get this one keeper. Shot with Canon 6D, 50mm f1.4, 1/400 sec, f2.8, ISO 1600.

Here is mine! I am mixing a project on an S5 Fusion Console in Studio D at my school. Used the built in flash on 2nd shutter due to long exposure time to keep me sharp, used my hat to help difuse the light a bit.

Technically Liz, submissions are closed. Sunday night at midnight your time zone is when all photos are due. Anything after that will be omitted from the "contest"

    However!

If you would like feed back from our judge if the week feel free to submit a photo before he sends feed back but it will not be counted towards the actual challenge. Or feel free to post in the general photo thread.

But I wouldn't mind seeing your photo, just keep in mind you can't "win" at this point.

Thanks Pete! I was super happy with how it turned out. I guess it goes to show that when you have a moment of inspiration, take the gear out and just start snapping until you're happy with the result.

Not much participation these days, but I'm hoping we can everyone to take their cameras out this week and get into it. I know that for many, the winter months mean considerably more "inside time" than usual, but with some creativity, inside subjects can be just as interesting.

I've PM'd the new challenge and hopefully this one will get everyone pumped to shoot!

I definitely need to shoot more, and by myself. I use camera time as my time, haven't got to do much of that lately.

This one was kind of tough for me. I got the idea while searching the toobs for what to do, so this idea isn't mine. But was fun to try and replicate.

LOL I saw that picture you are referring to. The thread also had a picture of expanded steel and Bokeh which I considered doing because my sliders are filled in with expanded steel. Dude you blew the original picture of the lego toy away great job!!

Pete is one of those people that can visualize what he wants and does a great job, always. I usually have to think about it first and research what others have done. Wanted to combine sunburst at this time of year with what exists in nature because of what I have learned on this thread, much like you apparently do.

IMO go with your gut instinct your good enough, and then some. Your very much like Pete.

If I can't figure out performance issues with an app that I now support looks like I have to go to Scottsdale, AZ starting on the 15th. 2 years ago I had to go there in January and brought snow with me, don't think they want me back. But if it turns out I do have to go there is a LEO in South Phoenix I would like to buy a beer or two. But I hate going to a warm place this time of year because I am always tempted to not come back North...

    Glad you saw it! hahaha

I do have a tough time with creative shooting, why this thread has helped me a bunch by getting me to shoot in new ways and adding to perspectives I can come at a new scenario with.

What part of the river was your shot taken? What city is that near? Most bluffs like that are further south I think? Like winona/la-x/pepin area?
