Damn this is tough, actually. Came down to creativity and motivation vs photographic technique and huge goal!

Pete, I really like your creative capture method and the fact that you're helping motivate your friends. Goals are always more fun to take on and easier to accomplish with motivating friends like you! (Not factored into judging: Sad but pretty background! Cemeteries always make me sad)

Cody, nice shallow depth of field shot! I like the setup of the rubric for your class, but the photo itself is a little dark, imo, unless that's a reflection of the difficulty of your goal of getting a master's in organics. That's quite the study!

I pick Pete as the winner. Good way to keep you on track for your goals!

    New challenge!

I like this one. Will do my best to try and participate.

    "A street corner image.

Day or night, city or country, busy or desolate, any technique (B&W, HDR, Long Exposure, etc.)

Capture a street corner in this U.S. of A., and make us want to go there."

    Lots of possibilities here!

    Go!

What I got. Pissed that I cut off the top of the hogsback.... For those who know where this road leads, you want to be here! Not your typical street corner but it is a corner! Corner of Shoshone lake road and Baldwin Creek road near Lander WY, my hometown.

I do not know the road or hogsback (LOL not many flatlanders know what that is), however looks very familiar... :) You can take the boy out of the mountains but never will take the mountains out of the man, trust me.

Great job Marc, on the photo thread Ben said you have reached another level, and I agree and then some. Well done, Bravo Zulo.

Been a rough couple of weeks for me, my youngest son has a full body CT scan tomorrow for cancer, he is 24. I moved to Mn. from Asheville, NC 14 years ago where I had retired from the Navy. My father had died of cancer then and a headhunter hit me up at the right time and figured I couldn't cure cancer but I could help those that might. Never thought it would skip me and hit my son, as far as goals and challenges in real life I hope it isn't an epic fail. Thought about posting a picture of the Mayo brothers statues last week for goals but couldn't do it. Where your father and I work we recently agreed to spend 22.5 Billion to make it a Destination Medical Center (DMC) over the next 20 years. LOL couldn't come up with a decent picture here at this time of year but my mind is occupied with other thoughts. After 20 years in some of the hottest places on earth and more than a half dozen heat strokes, the North will do although I miss the gentle pace of the South. You have done well, thank you for that and what your pictures have conveyed. That is what they are supposed to do IMO... Thank you.

Thoughts and prayers with you and yours Mike, rough hand to play.

After some time here I'm starting to understand that statement :) It's similar to the comfort and adventure big blue/gichigami/lake superior offer. Hold those mountain memories dear, they are special!

Hogsback is just a type of heave or large thrusted chunk of sedementary package or other rock with a steep side and a gentle sloped side, usually in the foothills of a larger mtn range.
