All right let's get this going so we can get a new challenge! :woot:

    Comments:

    Mike (Cold Iron):

I think you did a great job with this statue. I've found they can be some of the most interesting and most difficult to get an angle just right on them. I like the lighting and think you did great with the softer focus of the clinic name in the background. It brings your eye straight to the statue and the busyness of the background doesn't distract from it. You did well with all that was going on back there. Nice job!

    Marc (SconnieHailer):

Well, I've got to start by saying I'm jelly of where you get to fish. You captured the scene very well. I like the colors and the clouds in there. The fly line gives just the right touch of color in the scene with the opposing clouds. I recently watch a dvd on composition and like how you have the mountain in the background and the rock in the foreground to get the weight of the photo right. Nice job!

    Aaron (Tex):

I like this photo. In fact, I was going to participate this week and was going to do the exact same shot. Unfortunately I didn't have time to do mine over the weekend. I like the colors in the bowl and how the oak lightened up the background behind it. I would have liked to of seen a little more light on the rings themselves. If you don't have a flash you could use something like a piece of paper to the camera left and "bounced" light back at the rings to lighten the front of them. Overall I thing you did a really nice job with this photo and I like the composition.

    Ryan (ComeAndTakeIt):

I like the shallow focus you chose in this photo. I think it makes your hands stand out from the book and I like how you thought outside the box on this one. I like the golden color in it as I feel it sets the mood of your description. I'm guessing you used an incandescent light for this? Cool idea and nice job!

    Kyle (akkyle):

I like your idea behind this photo. I know you couldn't really control it being at work but I would have liked to of seen a little less harsh light on the leaf but I do like the shadow behind it. I know this is a hard shot to pull off during the middle of the day. I've had limited time before and tried to take photo's during the middle of the day and I know how hard it is to get something that really works how you want it to. I like how you thought out of the box too and went with it. Nice job!

Now the hard part, picking the winner….

It was a hard decision this week with all the great images. I was stuck between Mike and Ryan this week.

I'm going with Ryan's photo. The lighting just stands out for me and grabs me when I look at it and I like the story behind it.

Congratulations Ryan. We'll be waiting for your challenge for the week!

Congrats Ryan! You did well with that 'Plastic Fantastic' 50 lens :) It was you, not that lens that did so well. I went with the DA*55 for a prime at ~that focal length and couldn't have done any better with the DA* lens. Great job and composition.

Thanks for the feedback Murph. I had never done a nighttime shot of a stature, but you mentioned how difficult it can be so thought I'd try it. I will not tell you how many shots I took LOL. Glad I did it, really was a lot more of a challenge than I thought with the light reflecting different angles, materials, etc. I'm thankful I didn't have to pick one of the winners this week every single one of them were outstanding IMO!

    The ultimate landscape changer!

I'm getting in early as i've got a really busy end to the week.

I've got a time-lapse video that goes with this photo. If anyone is interested just check out my build thread on the last page for it. Should be up by the end of the day. I shot it yesterday.

I had a hard time with this weeks challenge. Could not come up with anything that I was excited about. Then I was in the back yard watering the new sod and saw a wood lizard run across the wood pile. Ran and got my camera and snapped a few. Went back to watering and saw an Anole jump from a bush to a tree and changed from green to brown. Tried to get a picture but the sun was terrible and he was on the move. Thankfully those little Anoles are all over and got this cool shot of one changing from brown to green.

I think this photo kind of represents what has changed over my life so far. I started off in a private school and even when switching to public school in 5th grade there was still prayer in school. Progress to today where that is not allowed.

Didn't know if I would have time to get one in this weekend, but just managed to squeak it in. Was volunteering as a photographer for a boat racing event we had this weekend. Still have about 400 photos to edit :help:. We have a new bridge currently under construction replacing this ≈80 yr old bridge.

Well, I am going to submit this time. I have been loving life and my summer job working with the recovery of the Wyoming Toad. Not only is this job the first one I had in a wildlife management environment but it's hard to believe that we have been able to start seeing significant changes to the wild populations. This species was estimated to have a population of 25 and they had 12 toads left when they started their captive breeding program in 1989. Our surveys this summer have been the highest ever and it's hard to believe I can easily walk around the lake and find a larger male such as this.

You did the toad a nice honor with the photo. Glad you found the time to enter again.

I had never heard of the Wyoming Toad before. Thanks for sharing a little history on them.
