Weekly Photography Challenge Thread (see first post rules and then the poll at top before entering)

I like this shot. Anything with the United States Ensign in it gives me goose bumps. The moon perched atop the spread eagle is cool.

 

I like this shot. Yep. I like them all. Being a bit OCD I really like symmetry. The only thing is that the moon is not equally between the buildings. If it was…….. Well, by the temporary power vested in me by the Weekly Photo Challenge I now pronounce this photo the Winner! West Coast Cole.

I'm figuring it out, finally.

 

I don't even know if my camera shoots in b/w. Is that something done in developing? dang. Gotta keep reading the manual.

 

Most camera's can convert it in the menu. You using Nikon? Most of us convert them in post in LR, PS or Silver Efex.

 

D5200 Nikon. But I haven't gotten the processing program I need, yet. Thinking about Lightroom, just not sure where to pick it up. So many versions, and options. A little overwhelming. As is my camera. I have a very little brain. And there are so many buttons and dials.

 

I'm assuming you're using a tripod, right? To get your focus use the live view on the screen and zoom it in to get a big shot of the moon on the screen then manually focus like that. Make sure your AF is turned off or it will refocus when you try to take the shot. Set your timer on the camera if you don't have a remote to take the shot. Try ISO 100 F/11 1/125 as a starting point.

 

Should be about the same but on my D800 and D7000 it's the 5th one down "Retouch Menu". You can do monochrome with it to your photo's.

 

Here's my submission. Taken on my morning hike on Black Friday up to Lake 22 in the Cascades.

 

I went out walking yesterday morning, a brisk 20* outside. Hoping for more fog, but no such luck.
