    New Challenge: Macro/Texture

Going with a combo this week. If you don't have a macro lens get as close as you can to show the texture of something. One entry per person and due this Sunday at midnight of your local time. Photo must be taken from the time of this post. Good luck everyone!

I would love to have one, but I can't see spending the cost for the amount of time I'd use it. Are you professional or just a hobbyist?
My tg4 made me happy enough, and it's waterproof!

Hobbyist, bought it for $50 from a guy I know that was selling his wildlife set up. I have wanted to get into macro since I bought my camera and it might be one of my favorite lenses to put on and just walk around the woods with. You can capture some pretty cool scenes that otherwise would go unnoticed.

Thought this would be nice considering the on duty death of a county officer from where I live and work this past week.

I have a macro lens, PENTAX-D FA MACRO 100mm F2.8 WR that I normally use for snow flake photography. A little early for that thank goodness. It is SMC and 80's technology but have found with macro manual focus works better anyhow.

Not much into traditional subjects like insects (unless flyfishing LOL) and flowers so much for macro. Have a lot of boots and thought I'd take a picture of the texture of the leather on an older pair of my Russell Moccasin Grand Slam Sheep Hunters. Then looking at the air bob claw soles decided to go with that instead.

    This is not an entry.

Turn it backwards and hold it against the front of the camera. Instant macro lens. They actually make a reversal ring that screws on the filter ring but in a pinch just hold it agaist the camera. Works like a charm. You will have to run the camera in manual though to do it. Old school pro tip. ;)

Put the lens on the right way first and meter it to get the exposure to start with with it reversed.
