Couldn't you just set up your camera for -2, 0, +2 ev for HDR anyways and have the Neo trigger fire and the camera should just fire it if the camera is in burt mode. How i do HDR. Just put the 2 second timer on, camera in burst mode with the Ev all set. And all 3 shoot back to back..

    I mean..since i don't have built in HDR..

Good lord though..that would take hours to process in post..haha fill my 32 Gb cards fast i bet..

Most time lapses are taken in JPEG so it doesn't kill the computer trying to process it.

That promote also calculates the exposure to increase the time for exposure as say the sun is setting to continue the time lapse. Pretty cool but not $300 cool.

yea i believe the Nero does the exposure change too.

Idk, if you do that stuff a lot might be worth it. Cheap compared to the track module i was looking at once..think it was upwards of 2k..

I don't know if anyone mentioned it but most DSLR's have a shutter timer delay option. My D600 and 700 both have options of 2,5,10,and 20 seconds (or something like that). Pretty handy for long exposures or when you want to be in on a pic.

I don't run this pop-stand but I don't see why your face has to show. that's up to each person's interpretation.

And I've seen your digital drawings haha I'd say be sensible with it. Once the piece of art has become more digital drawing or whatever than it has photography it's no longer really about a photography challenge anymore haha I'm sure others will chime in. Editing to alter lighting or touch up a photo to me is different than completely drawing over a ton of what was once a photo, but at the same time I've never been one to like to limit anyone's artistic creativity haha I would say use your own judgment on what is fitting for a "photography" challenge.

Editing is a full go. so do whatever..i mean i now you do a lot of graphic stuff, but thats not a green light for getting to totally recreate your enviroment..

I think you still need to capture it and most of whats going on. So total PS stuff..eh..id rather not see that. Its about photography more then editing and graphic stuff..make sense?

    as for partial shots..

    hmm..

How about this. Someone should be able to easily identify you. So the shot you posted would be a no go. But if he had his head turned so the profile of his face was seen and jaw..an eye..nose..then i think it would be easy to identify.

So..need to be able to see at leas part of the face.

Like I said. This ain't my show haha I look at it this way. You can do what you want. Take a picture from your knees to your boots if you think that sums you up . . . buuuuut, it's probably not going to win over all the other photos of people being creative and submitting their face as part of the shot. Some may do partial face up close, some may be a whole body far away on a bench with a sunset. So if I take a picture of my back, will that really sum me up and be competitive with other photographer's entries? Probably not. My philosophy is, don't set up a bunch of rules to govern people, teach them logic and let them want to do things right themselves haha BUT, that is getting deeper than photography, so, do as you all please. I was just offering my perhaps 2 and a half cents. I couldn't care less either way. I can work within whatever rules are agreed upon.

My 2 cents are that showing the face isn't important...It's a self portrait, let each shooter portray what that means.

ah okay. Yea, idk..i mean..its about photography..and that is still using photography..but also a lot of post design and editing more then just touch ups/enhancments.

So really, your just gonna have to self police yourself. You do things much differently then what most of us do normally. I mean, most of us spend 10-25 mins tops on a photo..not hours.

So i don't want to say.."if you've been editing for X long..your doing it wrong..doesn't count" or "No altering photos" or "only one photo may be used". Because HDR is mulitple photos, we all edit a bit at least and most at different paces.

I can tell you that if you submit something we feel is too.."out there" i guess? we will tell you..haha

basicaly, we don't have a line for you to try not to cross yet..cause you havn't crossed any yet..haha

Okay. I retract my previous statement about the face needing to be in it.

You all will have to come up with your own version of self shot.

I just don't like too many restrictive rules placed on personal art haha what if someone wants to be holding their face in their hands to show sorrow or anger or something and they don't fit into what wikipedia says is art?

    Chaz,

Well, I was using some new software for this challenge. It was NIK's Color Efex pro and Silver Efex (I edited it in both programs along with LR). I was going through the presets and got to playing with some of the other settings and got this look. I've been into photography for 29 years. I bought my first Nikon in 1984, a FG. I progressed all the way to the darkroom with my hobby from B&W (Which has always been my favorite) to color. When I saw what was on the screen after tweaking it like this it reminded me of my favorite Kodak B&W fiber based paper I used to use. I haven't been in the darkroom in 20 years but I will never forget how each print on that paper looked. This, I guess was kind of a tribute to times past. Now if I can just figure out that setting again since I didn't save the settings. lol

Edit: He was a police officer that was marking the tires with chalk downtown in the 2 hour limit parking area. I think I kinda surprised him when I brought the camera up. This was my first and only shot I took that day. No one was out. lol
