Late is the hour, but do any of you fancy camera peeps have a suggestion for protective 'personal item' storage of DSLR, spare lens, battery. charger, flash unit and a few items like a book, coffee, snacks and shaker bottle? If it wasn't for the need of the other items, i would use the camera bag I already have.
I had intended on using my Pelican 1510 for my camera, laptop and other items but my connecting flight does not offer carry on. I'm leery of having such expensive equipment 'checked'.
    Flying Delta.

    Thank you!

No carry on? What the fuck kind of airline is that? To your question: I have no answer, sorry. A pelican case would be my only suggestion

Flying first class but the puddle jumper from Salt Lake to Colorado Springs is a 50 seat unit. Says there is no overhead storage. All carry-ons are taken at the door and returned when disembarking. Not as bad as being completely checked but still.

Also have to say that my personal experience flying commercial airlines is almost nil and very sparse at that.

Flying (for fun) in something much smaller tomorrow. I hope to get some great pics!

Not a good photo (iPhone) but I wa me so stinking excited to see these critters!

I do have my Nikon with me... what’s the best mode to shoot in to grab crisp shots when something just ‘appears?’

I just went thru this. I got a TravelPro underseat carry on bag. Under seat is the magic words.

It’s about 1/2 the size of a regular carry on bag.

EDIT. I have used it 3 times in the last month on United and Delta regional planes, 50-seaters. As long as it goes under the seat in front of you, you’re good. The overhead bins on those planes don’t even fit standard carry on bags in the overhead.

Ours too collect all the bags at the gate. Except mine. I roll right on past them.

Check it as a firearm, they will take extra special care of it and make absolutely certain you receive it back.

Until they open it up to "inspect" it and realize it's not a firearm. :notsure:

    Firearms cases are locked.
Friend of mine works for a small arms manufacturer, he flies with firearms all the time.

Ifen some asshat workin in the back figured it would be a good idea to make it disappear, that will get them a vacation at a federal facility.

I thought they had to have TSA compatible locks in case of inspections after checking the case as luggage?

I’d be hesitant at best to check my body. Definitely not my glass. I’d do everything humanly possible to get it in the cabin.

I think my old Blackhawk backpack will work, but may just buy a Canon backpack I found at my local Best Buy. I only have tomorrow to get it done so, can't be too picky.

If you can get to Grand Junction I’ll give you a ride to the Springs. I’m on vacation this week and mom lives over there and asked if I had any plans to head that way?
