I've heard RODE mics are some of the best. They are directional and you can get the big fluffy wind blocker for them.

    A few.
Initially I was a little disappointed that I couldn’t use my blue hour Grand Canyon photo from last weeks trip. Then I put some thought and effort towards this weeks challenge. I went over to Colorado National Monument one evening, but I wasn’t totally happy with the images that I captured. So I woke up at 2:45 this morning and headed to a spot near Canyonlands and Dead Horse Point that I found during the B&W challenge a few months back. A635786B-5279-449A-99BA-890E247A015E.jpg

    My Entry
Shot this around 5:30pm, almost a little to late. Used my Canon 5D 24-105 f4 which is not a very good low light lens,
used a tripod, bulb for about 7sec. Good challenge!!!
    Enjoying the great photos!!!

AKA: Ditch Chickens. Not to be confused with limb chickens, the ruffed grouse, which was my entry last week. Or prairie chickens, sharpies (sharptail grouse), huns, etc. My entry almost exactly 2 years ago during my annual SD trip.

Not quite the rule of thirds but it doesn't have to be exact to work. Depends on your subject. Damn I actually HAVE learned a thing or 2 from this thread LOL.

RODE is good for the pricepoint. The videomic is like $100. But it’s a perfect example of getting what you pay for and depends on what you’re shooting and how far you want to go with it. The Shure V83F has better frequency range and sound for sure. No pun intended.

For anyone interested, I created a Youtube channel yesterday and made a video. This is my first video ever so I plan to really work at editing and incorporating more scenic shots. The channel is linked below! Thank you guys!

Not sure why I am just finding this thread but its time to get the sensor dust of the 5d and shoot its been a long time since I've tried a blue light shot.

@My_Name_is_Rahl I've got an older but still very functional Canon 20D DSLR. Your phone might take better photos over all but its a super forgiving camera to learn on. Ie the manual settings for exposure shutter speed ect. Let me know if you are interested. You would need a lens who know another member might be able to help there 2. I would but I only have higher end L glass now.
