It read super sarcastic, just here to look at photos and enjoy creativity. Maybe I’ll submit something if I can remember that it isn’t Monday yet.

    Not an entry.

    Question.
I took many photos last night of the moon while on a last minute overnight in the forest.
The ones posted here are the best of the bunch. I used manual settings, auto and manual focus, varied the ISO etc, but none are very clear (sharp). I have a feeling the recommendation will be for a lens with larger optics to capture the light better. Is there anything else this could be?

First, what type of camera are you using? I almost always run my camera in Manual mode and every so often in Aperture Priority mode. The more you crank up the ISO (generally) the more noise you will introduce into your picture. Sometimes that can't be helped in low light situations. Some cameras are better at handling this than others. It looks as if the clouds were obscuring your moon shots so it didn't look like you were going to get a very clear picture of the moon no matter what. And judging by the length, if you were trying to get a closer shot of the moon then yes, you would have needed a longer lens. Generally, if I'm shooting landscape or any type of astrophotography I use a tripod and set the exposure and the F Stop accordingly. That way I don't have to bump up the ISO to get the shots that I'd like to get. Longer exposures allow more light to enter the lens but you have to adjust your F Stop accordingly to avoid blowing out your picture. Generally that isn't a problem with taking pictures of stars as you can leave the the exposure set to 30 secs and at a low F Stop without getting star trails. Any exposure longer than that will introduce star trails. As far as taking a picture of a full moon, I generally take a 2-5 sec exposure and adjust the F Stop to get the shot I'm looking for. It all depends on the composition you're looking for.

I don't have a moon shot but here is a shot in my front yard in the city with HEAVY light pollution to where I can only see maybe 10 stars with the naked eye. This was a 30 sec exposure so I was able to capture and more stars than I thought I'd be able too.
