you can literally take a picture of anything. You have no excuses. Doin yard work? Pic of lawnmower. Cooking dinner? Pic of dinner. Dad duties? Pic of kid. Dog dad only? Pic of dog. You couldn't ask for an easier challenge to participate in this week.

Perhaps. I don't put pictures of myself or family online. No pets right now either.
I'm getting ideas though. Thank you!

Not bad considering you're stuck with Air Force birds :p

Was shooting eagles on the Mississippi a few years back and saw smoke in the air to the South intermittently more than 20 miles away so set the lens to infinity and snapped a few pictures. Got home and knew what it was right away. Watched enough hornets take off from the flight deck from vultures row of a couple of bird farms over 20 years, was surprised to see the Blues had gone to the hornet.

    NOT Entries:

That was a Saturday so for Sunday picked a spot on the bluffs above the airfield down in La Crosse, Wi. Wanted a vantage point that most didn't have and got lucky, the cloud cover pushed them down lower than normal. Most of the time I was shooting level across the River valley.

They would sometimes come straight at me and then break for the bluff

Uncropped right over me, humid day and you can see the wingtip vortices

Took hundreds of pictures with 300mm and 1.4tc for 420mm. Seems like I always want more lens and faster focus no matter what I am shooting.

Spent the last week on the North Shore of Lake Superior with the dog grouse hunting. Back to work this week and leave Sunday for 12 more days grouse hunting up the Gunflint trail. Snowed last Wednesday when I was there. Wish this challenge was next week, work all year for this time of year. Could retire next year, again. Maybe I should...

    I've missed your posts, Mike.

Also, the bluffs around LaCrosse and Winona is some of THE most beautiful country I've seen.

    Thank you good sir.

Last year I was on the North Shore hunting and had a snowshoe hare come running down the trail and he ran under my Polaris Northstar. WTF?! Minute later a pine martin came running down after the trail after him and the bunny bolted into the woods off to the side. Game of life and death and after almost 5 minutes the martin cut him off and had supper. It hit me that if I would have been behind a camera I would not have seen the whole scene unfold. So didn't take any cameras with me this trip. Was a mistake, and will next but not live behind them.

The one thing I wished I would have done is take more pictures of my sons when they were younger. Can't go back and change it, but embrace what I have. Family is a good subject. Always. I have even cropped the Ex out of most of the pictures I do have LOL. Kept the boys after she left and finished the job she left that is the important thing. They don't like their pictures taken now so much and the oldest is in Boston now.

Lived all over the Country both coasts anyhow. Used to think Washington State Puget Sound area was the most beautiful. Never dreamed I would end up in the middle of the US, ever. Yeah it is really great around here but took me awhile to warm up to it.

But the best part of the Country IMO is the North Shore of Lake Superior during October and the dog loves it there too hunting grouse. Sept to Nov is my favorite place in the world.

I respect the law and try to stay between the lines but the Federal Government makes it hard. Using USFS maps, google earth and Scout and Hunt for prime Aspen cuts to figure out where I will spend 12 days starting Sunday and not break Class 2 UTV regs. We got this..

    NOT entries:

    Popular Lake USFS UTV trails.jpg

Gods County. No cell phone reception they even have phone booths yet. That still work, cell phone reception from here is at least an hour away either US or Canadian side. Last Wednesday cell phone, had to turn it on to take a picture.

    trail lodge oct3.jpg

Dog keeps trying to climb in the truck since I got back. Really tempted to just let him in and go back now.
