Weekly Photography Challenge Thread (see first post rules and then the poll at top before entering)

Looks like it really is God's country. I love being in the woods and especially being around lakes.

 

That reminds me of Potter County in north central Pennsylvania. They actually refer to it as God's Country as well, and there are plenty of areas where you simply will not get service to your phone. There's something oddly refreshing about that.
The population density is pretty much the lowest in the entire state. I think that must be why I enjoy being up there so much.

OK now you're starting to scare me

On the West rim of the Pine Creek gorge (big pine) in a State Park is what is left of a homestead, just a kitchen stove last time I was there. That was my great great grandmother Hat (Hatfield) kitchen. My great grandmother used to talk about the blizzard May 29, 1929 in Galeton that killed most of the calf's that year. Took my youngest son back for youth deer season about a dozen years ago and he shot his first deer couple hundred yards from where I shot my first deer. And the best memories I own are my son, his grandfather and I grouse hunting back "home" 3 generations of us. I am a ridge running woodchuck from there, breed and born.

Cook County here where I am hunting next is 3 times the size of Potter and has a third of the people. The 4 Counties in the arrowhead I hunt combined are the size of some small Eastern States with almost no people. And sometimes think it is still too crowded anymore. Might be time for me to push into Canada toward the Sunset Country of NW Ontario. Next year think I will, it is time.

My den actually does have a fireplace and book shelves. Prob need a few more books though.

Gonna have to stop at Homegoods on the way home and buy a globe. Every study needs a globe. Preferably one of those big ones you can hide booze in the middle of.
