Beautiful!! You had an early drop this year, from the age of about age 6 & well into my 70's I always got a "Buzz" from the first drop, even into my 70's i never lost that "Buzz". However, I have to say as the winter drooled on the "buzz" faded. your photo brings back good thoughts!!

No, This is "Burrrrrrrrrrr!!!" I am thinking "1996" (?) No this isn't the "Wimpy Wind Chill", this is the actual dead cold. One had to be cautious as not to freeze your lungs, (you had to live it)

That's crazy. I think my record is like -34 and that was cold enough for me.

Cold for sure. This past winter in northern Alaska was about as cold as ive felt... we were hoping for triple digits just because it was so close. I can't find the picture I took but this will be close enough. BTW id rather have no 'wimpy wind chill'. Id rather be in -40 with no wind than a -40 with wind . Either way -60 ambient is definitely cold and much colder than most can even imagine

    20200208_070212.jpg

Edit- the pic i wanted to find was around -68F windchill stuck at -99F all day... no outside work that day

Ive got a picture of myself close to that. My eyebrows, eyelashes and beard were iced over. Wish I had my laptop right now to share. It was cold outside but the icing up was due to my breath and the condensation

Well as expected the guy bailed yesterday as I was going to get the Sony. Found another nearby but having second thoughts on getting it. I just don’t take pictures enough as is and I already have all the lenses for my Nikon. Soooo probably not going to get a new camera now and spend the money on the Harley instead

Rapid City is the warm part of the State in SD too LOL. Cdr. that I took the Coral Sea around the world in 83 ended up retiring there because of the mild winters :)

Last year we were in the thirties below with wind chill in the 60's below coldest in a long time and that is in SE Mn. Warnings about eye balls freezing in their sockets, blah blah blah.. I didn't smoke anything on the smoker that week LOL.

Just got back to the cabin from grouse hunting. Tip of the Mn. Arrowhead 2.5 miles from the Canadian border. Snowed every day so far and hasn't gotten above 30 for the last 8 days that I have been back. Sun supposed to come back out tomorrow finally and Tuesday, still not above freezing though. Leave Wednesday for home. Saturday supposed to get up to 40  Dog doesn't care he is having a great time. Which means I am also!

For ~half a century these have been my autumn colors. Cascade and Olympic foothills in Wa. State. Northeast, middle Atlantic States down to the Appalachian Mountains of Western NC. And now Mn. They include purple shells and the ruffled grouse. Because ruff prefers to be shot with a 16 ga. with double triggers and barrels sitting side by side.
