Get some neutral density lenses and you can do a longer exposure like that during the daytime to blue the water. That was actually taken handheld and supported between my hands and the railings on that bridge. That was taken around noon.

It's an amazing photo. Looks like it should have been in a magazine, not Flickr.

Cellphone vs DSLR. Every photo in my Instagram up until May of this past year was taken with my Droid Turbo. I think some of the cellphone photo's rival the DSLR. What the Cellphone lacked in quality I think I did a good job making up for it in creativity, or so I've been told. You definitely don't need a fancy camera to take great photo's.

Edit: Almost all. Some are GoPro stills.

Yea it isn't great. But still silly to set a requirement like that. That is like saying your app is only good on iphone when android makes up 85% of the market share.

I need to find a good cheap software to edit my photos. I haven't done hardly anything with the thousands of pictures I've collected over the years.

What do yall do to catalog your pictures? What does your file system look like?

I'm using Lightroom now. It has a pretty good Catalog system but I'm still learning to use it properly. I create my own categories such as Motorcycle, Weather, Pets, Sunrise etc. etc. and import the photo's into the proper folder. I still have much to learn about it though. I bought the standalone version of Lightroom before they went to the subscription service. Corel Paintshop Pro X5 is pretty decent. Lots of effect features in Corel.

Flickr works. My photo's are used by 2 locals lawyers in town on their websites.

http://www.hpps-law.com 4 out of the 5 on the main page are mine.

https://markpostlaw.com This one is a friend of mine and he's using one of mine.

Another one acquired and used for a local GOP Facebook page.

I don't know about magazine worthy. I was hired by the lawyers for photo's for their websites.

I'm using Lightroom also. Cataloging? I do that with the export into folders. I know, I know...should be using LR but I do my own thing.

Little back info on this one. It was a overcast shitty day and they really wanted this photo for the website. I was running out of time with the weather being shit the whole time allotment I had. Took the single photo and looked at it. Pure shit in my mind. Lacking in about every way and just dreary, really needing some sun to make it pop. Suddenly some clouds cleared and I decided I could make it work with as a HDR. This was a 5 shot HDR and I really kinda pushed it to get it to work. They loved it. lol Sometimes you just have to go with your gut instinct and make it work. I took this on the side of the on ramp to the Interstate.

Sounds like I will have to look into Lightroom. $9.99/month doesn't sound too bad for a subscription. I hate that they do that because it cost more in the long run, but that also gets you constant updates instead of being stuck with the version you bought. Sometimes thats good and sometimes its not.
