I recently purchased a 6x12 tandem enclosed cargo trailer. It has a curb weight of 1720lb. I am planning to keep the total weight around 5000lb or less, max 5500lb. The trailer has a GVWR of 7000lb.

I have a 21 Tacoma off road. Lowest trim package, manual transmission, double cab, short bed.

I think the biggest limitation is the payload being 945lb. I am interested in putting some of the tongue weight on the axles. The trailer and truck match up well without any drop hitch.

Any suggestions on a good WDH? I really liked weigh safe, but it seems like the system weights too much, reducing the payload.

this will be for a cross country move, then work afterwards.

I am considering not purchasing a WDH and running the trailer with just a basic bumper pull hitch. I saw many forums recommending a WDH when the trailer is over 50% of the total allowable weight. I will max my speed at 55mph when towing, if that makes a difference.

I may get the weigh safe fixed height ball mount to ensure my tongue weight is good.

Both are Stock - built correct from the start.
I towed my Satellite 17RB, about 3500 lbs, with my ‘19 Sport. I have a Fastway E2 (600 lb) WDH. I chose this one after reading reviews online and talking with the techs at Camping World. I have no complaints. I’ve never had on before but this seemed easy to setup.
