My old accord did this, my wife's forester does this. It's irritating, I've learned to deal over the last 5 years. I do t put anything heavy on the front seat.

I HATE that chime. I moved a couple weeks ago and wanted to use all the space avaliable to me, meaning boxes went in the passenger seat all the time. I had to stop and buckle them in every trip.

I'm gonna blow ALL your minds. That sensor isn't based off weight. Sometimes you can put things in it that don't trip it, no matter the weight. I'm almost positive they put the same sensor in it that the FRS/BRZ uses, which is based on static, I think. You can trip it by putting your cell phone in the seat.

That would explain why it came on right after I put my seat covers on!

As others have said, the Carista app + ODBII adapter will allow you to turn it off for the cost of the adapter + the app ($15? A year ago for me). It's one of the first things I had to do, hauling my dog around. It's something I've done since I was a toddler, I don't need or understand why there's a chime for it in the first place -- an indicator light is enough.

Otherwise, next time you bring your truck in to the dealer, you can ask for it and it takes them 5 minutes. They plug in a laptop running Techstream to the ODBII sensor and change the configurations there. Somewhere near the back of your manual is a list of features they can change. I believe it's a table showing what YOU can change on your dash options and what THEY can change with Techstream (or you with Carista).

Good point. I'd be belting the trophies in anyway so they don't fall and break

Happened all the time in my previous truck, I remember when it first happened and I did the same thing you did.
