Check out my build thread (Beginning of Money Pit)
I usually go to Home depot and buy the 60 lb pebble bags. I got 4 of them and put 2 under my bed box and then 2 in the back over the axle. it is more than enough weight IMO

Peble bags are great because if they break they are easier to clean up, just take a broom to the bed. And you can use them for traction. I usually keep kitty litter jic though

in the past i had a 4x4 s10, and used sand bags. worked well, then one day i was driving up a snowy hill on the way to take the boss' elderly mother home, and quit moving forward (i was already in 4 hi) luckily having the sand bags in the truck, i ripped one open and made two trails of sand to use as traction to get me going up the icy hill again.

so having the sand bags was great. i have a leer 100 on my ac long bed, and dont use weight, but thinking back to that day, i might just go buy a tube just in case.

you bastard, lol. can't wait to retire. my brother and sis-in-law retired from the military, having seen much of the world, and knew early on they wanted to retire in florida and now live in valrico, near tampa. sorry for the threadjack, OP, (4) 60lb. tubes of sand and i'm good to go for our illinois winters. snow isn't so bad, but that damn black ice is something to be wary of :(

just put winter tires on and leave it in 2wd. if you ever start loosing traction the TC will kick in right away.

    or

just put winter tires on and leave it in 2wd. if you ever want to loose traction, turn off the TC.

Kind of my thinking. Ive been driving in snow my whole life and as long as I have 4w drive I dont usually sweat it. I was just curious as to how well Taco's handle more than anything. I dont anticipate using jack in my bed other than my skis.

Spend your whole life driving countless vehicles in snow and then it's not a concern. :D

Seriously though, if you're concerned about it shovel your walk & driveway into your bed. Extra weight over the axle and when mother nature melts it off of the roadways she melts it out of your bed too so you never have to take anything out. Or you could learn to drive. :p

I just fill the bed with the snow from digging out of my parking spot and from my sidewalk , that usually givs me the extra weight for the need traction I need.

lol. all reason why i would not move to FL. if(and i kinda do) want to move farther north! i have a odd obsession with winter and winter weather! it’s 50 here. and not long ago when i went for food, i had a very light jacket on, never even had the heat on in the truck. i love it.
