Short bed or long bed? Why not take the tailgate off and run the bike right onto the bed, then snug it down with straps and reinstall the tailgate...or leave the tailgate off altogether.

    Bed is 6' 2" - long bed.
Didn't think about taking tailgate off. Just have to measure bed length to make sure everything fits.

My buddy @Morgoon760 uses his tailgate as a silt board and it’s still doing ok :)

    User dependent I guess.
Had a 450lb man (yes, for real) ride on my tailgate for a short distance while doing a S&R. Also had a Samoan friend (320lb) and myself (220lb) sit on my tailgate and eat lunch b4. No deformation or bends. Definitely do hear the plastic crackling though.

All about weight distribution. With a M/C, the weight when loading is dead-center on the gate. 4wheelers, mowers, etc, it's spread outward towards the end where the cables are. Big difference. These gates aren't know to be overly robust. If I were loading a M/C (or anything else heavy for that matter) on a regular basis, I'd probably invest in a ribbed steel inner gate cover for peace of mind. Like this:

not sure what's safe, but i do know that 2500lbs in the bed is decidedly NOT safe

it was all good til the third bump, then it folded up like a lawn chair

I’ve had a lot of weight on my tailgate too and I’ve never had issues. All the stories I hear about these tailgates has had me thinking it’s gonna fold on me one day but so far it’s held up to at least a few hundred pounds on multiple occasions. Including two people loading large sheep, pigs, logs, etc.

maybe I ought to go knock on some wood.

    I believe that's a Mobtown Offroad pictured.

Is that Mobtown? If so is it all one piece including the part over the lip of the tailgate?

I was going to order an aluminum one from Relentless, but shipping to Central California is $86.18. Ouch!

Yes, that’s the Mobtown 1 piece, but they only make it for the 3rd gen. For the 2nd gen they only make 2 separate pieces.

I’m pretty sure Relentless is the only 1 piece. I have the Relentless 1 piece aluminum.

I bought the Relentless one piece aluminum one. Just installed it. Very, very happy with it.

Cool to see you like the relentless aluminum version. I like that one piece version for the second gens. I went to order the tailgate and it was a hefty price but shipping was crazy high. The quote was $170. I am likely going to need to wait a bit to get one myself.

I've never had an issue, maybe its user error when you do fold one in half.

You will find the answer to your question by simply removing the plastic tailgate cover and taking a look.
