    Guys, I’m beyond flustered.

I had a noise start a few months ago.

I have what almost feels/ sounds like a banging noise.

it sounds like it’s coming from either under my seat or the door pillar or something underneath me.

    I’m beyond stumped.

when it started, it was occasionally on big hits.

it was really hard to actually make it happen now though; it seems like almost every bump.

it almost sounds like something inside the door was loose, or that something above the gas tank is banging, or something going on with my door latch.

but the doors make no noise when opened. I’ve taken the door panels off and nothing. Nothing that shows suspect.

curious if anyone has had this. I’m so irratated at this stupid noise

Get under there with a wrench and check every bolt and nut you can find for tightness. The U-bolts holding the axles first, shocks, then all of the exhaust tranny and engine mounts. If you added skids or sliders, steps or a roof rack, check those too. May also want to see if the bed is aligned to the cab if something is too close and hitting between them. Also check lug nuts.

And the dumb one- are the passenger shoulder belts fully retracted? The buckles do bang against the sides if not.

If the noise still happens, at least then you’ll know it's not critical.

Check your cab mounts, one or more could be loose or deteriorated.

Beer bottles rattling around under the seat? Naw, actually I did have full water bottles on the floor bang my seat mount with every stop, that got old quick!

So i just redid the whole rear end so everything is tight, front shocks are fine and i just rebuilt the front end a month ago, bumpers and sliders are welded on. When it happens i hear it and it’s like i can almost feel it through my seat. Not the peddles. I figured I’d feel it through the peddles if it was drive train related.

the gas tank seems like it’s in and not going anywhere.

is there anything mounted above the gas tank between the tank and cab maybe?

I’d have to lift the carpet to check these from the inside as Well right?

I considered this, or the tools behind the rear seat but they are jam packed and stuff won’t move.

I thought maybe the tools behind the seat but i took those out and checked and same thing.

mom so irratated with this noise though I’m gonna lose my mind :lalala:

Maybe could be a motor mount? I’d feel that through the peddles for sure though

Gas tank straps tight? Oh yeah: (” the gas tank seems like it’s in and not going anywhere.”)

No cracks in the slider welds? Maybe bang around a bit with a mallet on the frame and parts around the driver's side including the slider?

You should be able to see them from the outside under the cab where it sits on the frame, another thing to check would be sway bar links and bushings.

Did you lift it? Wondering if the UCA’s are getting hit if he kept the stock ones in, or if the shocks extended too far.

I had a banging noise from the bed right behind the cab. The right front bed bolt wasn't snug and the bed was allowed to bang up and down, even with my heavy Leer canopy

Go to each corner of the bed and lift up. If it's loose you'll feel it

There’s a tool called chassis ear. I don’t own one or have the need for one. But your situation, if it’s driving you that bonkers you might want to get it. I read here recently someone mentioned theirs and how good it is.

Just stating one obvious that hasn't been mentioned yet.

    Is the spare tire tight?

Do you have sliders? If so i would say def cab mount bushing. Even if you don't have sliders, I would check your cab mounts.

i do have sliders but they are welded on. I’ll check the cab bushings. And going to also check the bed.
no spare underneath it’s on the bumper now
I’m gonna check this when i get home. Maybe it is the bed

I’m so frustrated I’m literally at the point of annoyance that I’d sell the truck lol. I get so aggravated everytime i hear it. When the truck is out of the shop, hopefully I’ll get this figured out

Right on. The reason I asked about sliders is if your cab mount bushing is worn, the cab can actually sag down enough that it hits the bar that connects the slider to the frame during a bump.

Here where my finger is pointing is what I mean:

    Ahhhhh maybe that is happening!
I’ll check. I feel it would be pretty noticeable if it was so it shouldn’t be hard to detect.

I’d get a large friend to get on the hitch or in the bed and start bouncing the truck while I’m listening underneath.

On my old blazer I had a mud clod that got lodged between the frame and body. Once it dried and shrunk, it rattled around like a marble in a tin can.

    Yep.
    x2

Sounds like a slider-to-cab thump to me. Hopefully it's sagging mount bushings as opposed to the sliders being installed to high.

Got my first taste of this noise during winter when ice would build up between the slider and cab. Makes quite a thump.
