Weird Black Sticker...

Hey all,

So I got a '19 cement TRD Sport back in January, and I have always wondered what this weird black bar sticker with nothing on it on my windshield. Any ideas on what it is? I don't want to take it off if it's important in some way.

 

Can’t really see it but it’s probably a RFID tag.
Dealers use them and have readers when you pull into the service drive.
Pulls up your name and vehicle history.

 

I'd tear it off along with that toyotacare sticker

No!!! Don't remove that sticker!

That sticker, as long as it is affixed to your windshield, guarantees your truck has no problems. If you don't believe me, ask those here at TW who like to bitch and moan about seats, stereos and navigation systems if THEY have a black sticker!

No black sticker, no problems here. In fact my Taco is great.

I don't have a sticker and am just waiting for it to lock up.

 

Used for dealerships or shipping companies to keep inventory.

 

I’d you take it off it voids the warranty on this truck AND the next one you buy.

That is indeed a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag; you can remove it.

 

You guys kill me, lol. Thanks though. I'm an idiot for not thinking about some form of dealer inventory system

 

Only if it's HF RFID. If it's UHF, like it probably is, it's not NFC.

Must be on new Tacoma's only. I have a 2016 and mine doesn't have that anywhere on mine.

 

My 2019 doesn't have it, I'd bet the OP's dealer put it on there. I wouldn't be surprised if they're trying to scan vehicles coming the service bay to speed things up, like they've been scanning barcode in for having for years, just modern tech.

 

The police put it there as part of your parole conditions.
