Either my blower motor or something else in that area is starting to make a noise when the air is on high setting. The weird thing about it is that if the windows are closed, it usually doesn't make the noise. Once a window is cracked open, the noise starts. Is this just simply a bad blower motor? Why would the window open change things?

Cracking the window changes the cabin pressure, if you have a bearing in the blower that's about to fail it could make noise like you describe. But without hearing the noise I can't say that it is a bearing. The blower is under the glovebox and is fairly easy to remove if you want to inspect it.

Mine whistles a bit on high now. Stereo goes up a bit higher then.

If it doesn't sound like a bearing growl, and it's just a airflow noise,,,you might spend days trying to find that little tiny gap in the ducting or trim seal that is flapping in the free pressure. Hell, you could have sucked up a fern leaf and created a grass or debris whistle in there.

A dirty scroll fan could be the culprit. Sometimes just pulling the blower motor and blasting it out with comp air will do the trick. Sometimes not.

I plan on pulling it tomorrow if the rain lets up. Maybe I can spray some lube on the bearing in there and see if anything is causing an issue. Thanks for the help

It's probably crap from mice in there. I think it has torx screws from underneath. Like stated, it's behind glove box. It's easier to do if you take glove box out and maybe piece of hvac duct that runs across in front.Very easy to drop straight down.

Took it apart. Nothing looks out of the ordinary. Sprayed some wd40 on it to see if it maybe stop squealing. Probably going to get a new one at the junkyard.

Sometimes, just gunk buildup on the vanes can change the air profile over those,, and they can sing or whistle on full blast.
