Hey fellas, new here to the forum. I have a 2021 tacoma SR5 with 9800 miles and the same weird clunking noise many of you have had. I will be taking the truck back to the dealer on Friday for the second time for this noise and now have a few items to have the dealer check out thanks to you guys, much appreciated! This is my second tacoma, first one was a 1997 manual 2wd drive single cab that I could not kill no matter how many times I loaded it with 3/4 ton of construction materials. I love tacomas and hope this new one is as good to me as my first one! I cried the day I had to get rid of 1997, so many great memories!

What did the Dealer repair the first time you took it in, should be on your receipt?

    Is this a drivetrain clunk?

Is your new tacoma a manual? Sometimes mine makes noise similar to pans knocking together when I depress the clutch off road.

Couple questions; is the truck completely stock? What mods have you done? When do you hear the clunk? (at speed, going over bumps, turning wheel, applying brakes, etc?)

Completely stock, no mods, hear it more at low speeds but still there at mid speeds. It is an automatic trans so not a clutch issue. Nothing was repaired the first time, they said everything was fine and sent me on my way, the truck only had 5500 miles on it the first time I heard it. It sounds to me like some sort of suspension clunking. Other forums said body/ cab bushings worn out already and others say LCA not torqued enough. I'll mention both to service on Friday.

Line the inside of the accumulator heat shield with sound insulation, like Noico. It will all but eliminate that sound. There is a TSB that installs a similar thing.

I'd bet on front cab mounts. I installed some Energy Suspension universal ones and have been happy for 10k since.
