Saw this oddly shaped tree, the horizontal part is thicker than the trunk.
:sorry: for the poor picture, my phone is old, I can't really see it without my glasses, it was overcast and I'm standing on the side of a hill. :sadviolin:

@RustyGreen can you identify which vehicle this old seat came out of. :D
It was miles out in the woods but no car to go along with it.

And then there is this mechanical farm thing...

There is a bunch of open gears and a chain, also 2 mismatched big iron wheels.

I had to climb up a steep hill to get this close, I'm standing below it in the photo.
The going looks easier from the top side -- except for all that brush.

    KIMG2932.jpg

There is wild grape vine everywhere.

    KIMG2935.jpg

I'll cut my way to it for a better view - I don't think it is going anywhere. ;)

If you dig down under the leaves you might find a sickle bar going out one side. From what I can see it looks like it might be one. Although on top of a difficult, steep hill it might not be. If the land is all second growth after being farmed a hundred years ago it could be a sickle mower.

Several "illegal plantations" over the years. The most notable was where they established each plant right next to a 7 year old seedling and a colleague offered me $1000 for the map I printed to take to the local constabulary.

    Sorry-

I stumbled into roughly 5 acres of marijuana sown directly against young tree seedlings so that they could not easily be seen from the air. More frequently these "illegal plantations" were established in more open areas or planted under much older tree canopies. These plants grew right through the saplings and were about the same height despite being pruned regularly. Back in the day- people that worked the forest could get shot at when running into such places, some died. I routinely would use whatever ESRI software available to create a simple paper map and deliver it to the police. In this case someone that i worked with offered me money for the map so that they could use the material, sell it, get shot at, I don't know. I refused the offer and took the map to the cops anyway...

In Arkansas the cops would use an airplane to spot pot plantations. There were all kinds of people living in the woods that you'd never know about because the woods were so thick. I noticed the spotter plane circling above one of my more remote neighbors, a guy and his wife and their 18 year old daughter. The plane had been noticed before, circling for a long time above that particular spot. I jumped in the truck and made my way up their axle busting dirt driveway and as I came out into their couple of acre clearing I was rewarded with the sight of the 18 year old mowing the lawn... stark naked with nothing on but some canvas tennis shoes. She left the mower running and sidled up to the truck, her boobs pressing up against the door as she leaned on the open window, and told me that she "liked to f**k with them, figuring any time they spent circling was time they wouldn't be looking around for her neighbors that were growing."
Had a guy up the road that got arrested for growing nine plants. Two sedans with four M16 armed swat guys in body armor from each direction on the county road, a four wheel drive that came through the woods, and a very small helicopter that was hovering low enough to look in his second story windows... to arrest a guy that worked at home with his two little girls. Scared the bejezzus out of the kids.
One of the biggest growers in the area was a wild animal park. They fenced off the hollows to grow in and had the wild animals and fencing above to keep people out.

Ya know that a pigmy rattlesnake looks like a small pile of dog poo when coiled up? Neither of which you should step on wearing sandals.
