Came across this a couple of years ago. Fascinating stories and pictures. The one thing we have to worry about in the NW is marijuana fields. Stay away if you find any pot plants, those guys mean business. I have never found anything other than a big mag light but have heard some strange things. My Dad claims he saw Bigfoot back in the 70's deep in the Cascades, I wish he could tell the story, I can't do it justice.

I've been meaning to post this...

Back in August before I left for Vacation I decided to take a quick hike on my "lunch" break. I was at a HD in Pottstown and my curiosity took over - I wanted to check out an abandoned bridge that was close by. (the tracks run right next to the store)

Here is where the old line branches off:

there was about a football field of track line still there from the spur but VERY overgrown:

It got so overgrown I wished I had a machete....

After fighting the weeds and saplings I came to the top of the bridge:

The two columns of smoke in the background are from the cooling towers of the Limerick Nuclear Plant.

Here is the first of the 5 Arches that make up the span - this is a closed off access road to a shuttered chemical plant nearby.

I walked downstream and managed to get out on a sandbar to get this shot of the whole span:

I've got a thing for hunting down abandoned railroad stuff. :notsure:

No pics guys.. sorry but my buddy moved into a house behind me and we rode 4-wheelers back there almost everyday. and found an old car or two, an old corn crib, either another corn crib or a one room cabin. and out on my buddys farm there is a small old 3 room house that is almost fallen down now. its pretty cool, can get pics of that later this fall. lots of beer cans. and some huntin cabins. found a log bridge once. it was very sketchy crossing it the first time on 4-wheeler. and imagine that my buddies made me, the chubby one of the bunch cross it first... WHY IS IT ALWAYS THE CHUBBY KID?!?! ive found other cool stuff but cant think right now... really cool thread though to whoever made it

That's awesome, Craig. Me too. It's like finding secret forgotten worlds, and helps you imagine how things used to be in a very real way.

Great site! Thanks for the link.

Also some amazing pictures in this thread. I should've snapped some photos when I explored an abandoned mental hospital years ago in SoCal.

    I miss those days... :(
