Ill have to get some pics next time I'm in the hollow, but there are stone foundations and old cast iron stove parts out near our camp. All left from the logging boom in the 1800s I believe. It's a hike to get there but it's on an old dinky track. They would build dams in the hollow and fill it with water to float the logs then blow the dam to get them down as far as they could then repeat the process until the logs got to the Susquehanna river. The one camp in the hollow is the 3rd structure built on that foundation. It's from the se time period and they have old pictures from the logging days when there was nothing on the ground except stumps.

Yeah it is pretty crazy. Worked to get hundreds of thousands of logs to the river though

Once I was siting down looking over this opening in the woods. Scouting through my glasses for a deer I was surprised to see this guy doing the same thing in the opposite side of this valley. I can see that he is watching me, and I lift up my hand to make my self noticed. As I wave back in fort he was just siting there ignoring me and just watching. I taught this is weird, and decided to move, just took one step and tripped over something and find my self down in the ground with my rifle in top of me.
WTF, I looked down to see what I tripped over and saw some black plastic tubing, carefully hidden and covered with dirt. Immediately I realized what I was against and took off, got back in our camp, convinced everyone else to move it in other side of this mountain and went straight to the local police. Sure enough there was a marijuana plantation I just happened to stumble upon. Scary staff, my hart was biting out of my chest.

there's a word for that process and I forget what it's called. They were just talking about it in my local paper. I guess it's prohibited now because it destroys salmon populations.

Not around here it wouldn't. Probably native trout I anything. The stream that runs down that hollow is a good native stream too. So I've been told at least

Mountain biking I found a 4 Runner w/ all the doors open, windows smashed & the radio blasting. I took off real fast it was weird.

Otherwise I have seen lots of weird stuff snowmobiling, rusted school buses, deer stands memorials, odd sculptures, stuff that falls off sleds too much to list.
Once out in the middle of nowhere, a lady was pulling a red plastic sled with her baby on it in the middle of the trail. It was like 10F degrees out.

After Hurricane Irene I saw a mailbox 20' up in a tree near a riverbank.
The water had risen that much due to the storm.
The valleys are still strewn with debris you never know what you will find.

Found this while filling deer feeders. Was in a creek bed with only the light mount sticking out.

I'm going with a Jeep fender. I looked for the rest of the car but couldn't find anything :pout:

A buddy of mine and I were out on the 4-wheelers and found 2 kegs and a tap in the woods (still on my parent's property). The tap had the name of the place it was rented from so we loaded them up and took them in to get the deposit back. Call it shady if you want but there's no reason for kids to be out back of someone else's property having a bonfire (especially when you didn't invite the property owner!).

Kegs were empty. Looks like the party was a day or two before we got there, just no one had come back for the kegs and tap yet. At the time, the deposit on the kegs were $15/ea and $35 for the tap so we did alright. This was before you had to sign out kegs with your license number.
