Ancestry does it for less than a hundred bucks and can tell you about unknown relatives...

What do public agencies looking for a missing person get for thousands of dollars?

Yeah, my wife insisted on getting one done to see if our twins are identical and it was a couple hundred bucks. It wouldn't have had the rigor to stand up in court, though.

They get the opportunity to have an expert witness that will verify the accuracy of their findings in court.

This is cool ... no one can dissuade me. Hiking in South Mountain Park in PHX ... this hummingbird sat still long enough for photographs, but was annoyed by the passing mountain bikes. The sequence of pictures from a video take place over 1, maybe 2, seconds ...

The wife and I went for a drive today and found this chain which is used for clearing sage and pinion pine for grazing. The first one has my foot for scale. I can't even imagine what a chain like this would cost.

That "little" chain reminds me of the scrap anchor chain I got for my brothers 15 foot drift boat. Instead of having a big pile small chain links to act as his anchor I bought 5 or 6 links of scrap bigger boat anchor chain. It was totally unique among all the guys who fished that river. Fast forward several years and we were fishing a notoriously tough hole and wound up losing the anchor chain, rope and all. Being fishermen we went to to the only local watering hole to drown our sorrows about the lost anchor and the ability to use the boat for the rest of our week long trip. After the sorrows were drowned and the bar tab paid, we went back to our campsite, and neatly coiled to the bow of our drift boat was the anchor rope and chain. It turns out a local guide had come down behind us and was able to recover the line and anchor (which we couldnt do because of our small boat and the current). He recognized the oddball anchor chain and since my brother had hired him in the past and still talked to him, he knew where my brother always camped and dropped the anchor off for us. Needless to say we were gobsmacked (for lack of a better term) that our anchor was magically returned to us and we could fish the rest of the week. We wound up buying that guide a healthy gift certificate at the local restaraunt/bar as a thank you for his awesomely good deed.

over the course of many thousands of acres, it saves at least 3 passes with a larger dozer pulling a drum chopper, slash rake, or Savanna plow. Prolly less expensive than any of those attachments too. I’m curious about the bits welded to it and the length.would you say 100’? (It really is a chain and a half then! lol)
Shipping people pretty fussy about the amount of corrosion allowance for use on an actual anchor. I bet a guy could get used sections for this application pretty reasonably at a boat scrap yard. Soil moving regs are pretty stiff here but I’ve seen these used for slash in Mississippi and clearing palmetto in central Florida too.

Here in Washington state we are always finding old logging camps and machinery, boilers, and yarding equipment. Next time I find one Ill be sure to take a photo.
