I love finding stuff like this. I was following some geocache coordinates one night and found a medium size safe that the door had been broken off of laying in the woods. Unfortunately no gold laying around.

I found this website awhile back which I have been gluuuuued to. If you live out west, and like aircraft you should look into this. very very cool stuff. Billions of dollars of fine engineering strung across the landscape.

Desert keeps things longer. I can't imagine the heat these put out when they were all running, and in an area that gets to 120 F

When I was a kid, (like 5 or 6) I found a 12-gauge shotgun in the bushes at my bus stop. Took it home to my parents, and they called the police to come get it. It turned up on record as being stolen.
This wasn't in a field/forest/desert or anything, but I thought I'd share: A few months ago, me and my boss were taking down a chimney on a house in Norfolk, and found a broken gold signet ring stuck in the mortar about halfway down the stack, roughly level with the gutter line. We broke the mortar off of it with a hammer, and took it to the We-Buy-Gold place up the street. Got $120 bucks for it, even though it was broken, and we split it even. We figured that the mason must have lost it while he was building the chimney. House was built in '42, so it was pretty old. That's gotta be the coolest thing I ever found.

This wasn't found in the woods but it was pretty darn surprising to me. I took the desert route from Barstow to Vegas last weekend and must have made a wrong turn somewhere cause out of no-where rows and rows of tanks and hummers flew by us going in the opposite direction. A few minutes later we come up on this make shift town....

Turns out it was Fort Irwin and that little town must have been for training? :notsure: The funny thing was, before we saw any military vehicles we thought we heard HUGE fireworks. After passing the tanks, I'm pretty certain what we heard were artillery rounds.

The only signs we saw were ones when we finally got off the base.

Nothing like poison ivy to bring out the rash in people. Make sure you wash your clothes before you put them back on. The oil that causes the itching and rash will still be there if you don't.

:eek::eek: I'm surprised no one stopped and told you guys to get out! The National Guard training area here is open to the public as long as there is no active training going on, if they are doing anything up there then all of the roads in and out are guarded. Can't imagine taking a nice, relaxing drive in the hills and coming around the corner only to be face to face with a tank

leaves of three, let it be....

No one would even make eye contact with us. All the guys manning the 50 cals didn't even look over. We tried talking to a couple guys that were stopped in a hummer but the second we stopped next to them they sped off!

It was quite humbling being in the taco driving RIGHT next to a tank! That's kinda why I have no photos of the tanks! haha

    I was just kidding ;)
But yes. I thought the oil was ineffective after a few hours of being touched?
Maybe our oils destroy the itching part of the oil?
