Couple years ago I found an old Muncie 4 speed transmission, SM465, in the woods about 1/4 mile from a dirt road.

It's not far from home, I keep saying I'm gonna go grab it. Bring it home, open it up, see how bad it is inside for curiosity's sake, then probably add it to the scrap pile.

The Muncie is an aluminum case so at least the case should be good. You can look up the part number online. Who knows, it might be from a rare muscle car and you can make some good money selling it.

    1-.
I ran into wwII aircraft wrecks while hiking off jungle tracks in northern Australia. Some had plaques with some story about the aircraft and crews, and how they got there... a couple did not have have any markers, and may not have been recognized.

    2.-
While sitting in our REMOTE wild camp site in the outback - far, far from ANY population, or infrastucture (- as in hundreds of miles away from civilization), we found that there was a spot in our camp - maybe 3x3 meters aquare (at most) where one could get - and USE - a Wifi signal...
We took advantage of it for the hour or so that it was available. - Only in THAT spot. Suddenly, it just went away...
    - Can't explain that one.

    3.-
While wild beach camping in large dunes behind a remote beach in Baja, we (bunch of teenagers) were playing around in some large dunes when someone found an electric guitar buried in the sand.

It was just the wood part, without any hardware, but it was nicely painted. It looked like it was on its way to becoming an actual electric guitar before it found itself there...

We dug a bit more, and found more and more... as I recall, there were lots... maybe 60-70 that we dug up. There were more still buried. Some were only the guitar body. They were painted in many color schemes. They looked like they were left there not too long before we ran into them As the finish and the wood looked pretty new.
We had a nice camp fire... We left a bunch there. We were quite far from any proper population centers. It was a bit surreal.
    Can't explain that one either...

    4.-
Also while in Baja on a recent trip, on a wild track headed out from punta final; I found a young couple with a vw bus. It was a remote place, so I planned to stop and slowed a bit. They enthusiastically waved me down when they saw me. They were happy to see me. They had been stuck in the deep sand there for 2 days.
I yanked them out of that deep spot and on to the more solid track and let them follow me out.
They were happy to be out as they were getting despeeate.
This is included in detail (and picts) in my Baja trip report (in the TW trip reports section)

    5.-
While on a mountain biking trip to Oaxaca,; 2 out of the 4 of us would occasionally travel by bike between villages on any trails we would find. The other two would drive the car and we'd all meet later in the day.

The jungle there is thick and most often, these tracks we followed on the bikes often became pretty tight due to lack of frequent use. We'd have to push through in some sections.
On one of those excursions, we found some pretty major pyramids and related structures.
They were un-disturbed. -The site was pretty overgrown and we could not see how large the site was - but the structures we did see looked excellently preserved. This was well before gps. - Who knows where we were.
It was a very cool surprise to run into something like that.

    6.-
On that same ride actually, while climbing around some of these structures, I found that one can become an incubator for insects.

I was stung in the back of my leg just above the knee by a nasty flying (BIG) bug while I was hanging on for dear life on one of the structures we found. I could not swat at the bug with my hands as they were already committed elsewhere a tthe time, and shaking my leg was not enough to make it give up and fly off... It stung me and it HURT like a b****!
    Then it flew away...

It was not a huge deal, it seemed, as it did not hurt after the sting was stung... It did not bother me any longer, until about a week after - a bump surfaced - it itched, and it started growing...

I saw a doctor when we reached a city, and I got some antibiotics. We kept traveling... the bump kept growing.

I was the last to leave Mexico. It started itching and hurting more and more as it kept growing - until one night, sitting in my room with this thing now clamoring for attention (it was now constantly hurting), I decided, it needed to be addressed - right then & there!

I cut into it with my pocket knife little by little as I could bear, and eventually got some sticky green gunk out of the back of my leg as well as lots of blood.

Oh, decades later, I still cringe recalling that!
Man, it hurt! But had to get it...

After working at this for hours - it seemed... (It was very uncomfortable working on that spot on the back of my leg - and I could only bear to cut a tiny bit at a time!), the pocket of sticky green gunk was all cleaned out with antiseptic (booze) - and I was left with an empty gaping hole in the back my leg! ( 1/2" dia. or so).

I bandaged it up and left the hole open to drain freely for a day or two, before I butterfly stitched it closed...

The hole went mostly away as the inflammation went down... I had a divot there for years. I think it all gone now as this was decades ago.
