I could go on for days about all the cool stuff I've found in Colorado. And I imagine I haven't even made a dent in everything. SO much cool mining stuff. I'll post a few pics for now and see if I can find some more later. My ex's family had a historic cabin in a ghost town we'd stay in and take the trucks and dirt bikes out to explore. We never wandered too far off the roads though as there were old mine shafts everywhere. Many people have wandered out and never came back...most likely fell into one and died.

This is taken up Mosquito Pass, Colorado. It was at the top of the mountain and was part of an old tram they used to haul things they mined. Obviously a great view and photo op.

Huge mill at the bottom. It was enormous and the picture doesn't do it justice. Still had a lot of old equipment in it. Was awesome to explore.

Nothing turns me on more than old mining stuff. :D

Went to Panamint City this weekend, backpacked in 7.5 miles to the old silver mining town. The City was washed out in the late 1800s and again in the late 1900s. The place was lawless in the 1800s, to get around the robbery problem, they shipped the silver, unguarded, as 450 pound cannonballs.

That's pretty cool. Is it a cave or just a rock outcrop?

I was hiding a geocache and poked the ground with my walking stick. The was a gold panning pan and a shovel from nearly a hundred years earlier. I moved that cache and need to go back up ino the mountains with a metal detector. The area is known to have gold in the stream. Many a miner stashed some gold around where I was.
