They have covered bridges out here, just not where you're at. There's 51 of them in Oregon, go have a visit to see some.

The covering keeps the bridges from rotting. It was very easy and cheap to build things out of wood at the time, so adding more wood to the project and a bit of roofing material was a better than trying to obtain some alternative building material.

Glad you guys like it! The 50. cal is actually in two pieces, shell and bullet, no powder left don't worry haha. My dad told me he found them at an old abandon air force base near Suprise, AZ. Apparently when they were leaving the base in the 50's they burnt all their live munitions for some reason. He said there were live blasting caps all over the place! Here's a few more pictures of his minerals, most of them he's found but he also likes to buy some from time to time.finish-7-2_41077b40678357ff8c5eb57e4bbca0c422cff15c.jpgfinish-8-2-1_a7de5ddd00e0b6a9af36145343fc1b4765fe3d44.jpg

I was always more interested in fossils then my dad was, saw a megalodon tooth at a gem show when I was 12 and begged and begged til he bought it. 200 bucks later I was a happy camper haha. You can see it in the fifth picture I just posted.

That's awesome, be pretty cool to dig up a giant shark tooth from millions of years ago. We have boxes of petrified wood in our garage, stuffs all over northern Arizona. There's a huge slice of it in our living room.finish-2-3_2e447fb9d241240c63adf9a6fa75218fcc6cd343.jpgfinish-1-3-1_826fc6b01436ce9bf76fd1db7c17dc448af6594e.jpg

Hey, hit me up if you'd like some company! I love finding old abandoned buildings and such in the woods. Most of the time I go out on my own though which probably isn't the best idea.

Not too much to explore in Philly - I seem to have better luck elsewhere in the state. :notsure:

I find a lot of old gold mining equipment and vehicles while hiking and off-roading. When I was living in a different part of alaska we found a small pot farm in the woods so we left that area alone

I beg to differ - I recall reading a recap of a bunch of guys exploring an abandoned island inside Disney somewhere.
    That was really cool!

Ok, so I have a lot more pics on my laptop at home, but here are some that I found on my phone.. They are mostly abandoned stone structures out in the woods. The pics are from Ridley creek, pennypack creek, and some random spots around old abandoned quarries.

I read that too and watched the video, but that's Disney property. They had to basically break in to get there and risk jail time.

A small handful of select mods.
This is at an old mining camp on the top of Dome Plateau outside of Moab, UT. We ran into this on the trail run that day during Rock Therapy. A lot of the mines in this area were Uranium. Not certain if this one was or not.

A group actually went in there. Turned left and went about 100'. Then it began to descend again and had either collapsed or was blasted shut.
