Used to be the animal control officer in park city KS, when my uncle was a LEO there he had coffee with him a few times, They tore down BTK's house shortly after he was captured, just an empty lot in a neighborhood

Found a hatchet one time in the Appalachicola National Forest. Not exactly picture worthy, but it came in handy since we didn't have an axe.

I hate to revive an old thread with my first post, but this one is way too cool to let die!!! Middle of summer, anyone have any cool stories or finds? There aren't too many places left to off-road in my area of Southern Maine, most have been developed or gated off. The ones that do remain are known by everyone and way over-used, not much stuff left to find.

Welcome! Same, this was one of my favorite threads when it was still active! Certainly a good read though. All you need to do is travel north or west you run into plenty of nice places to explore.

This cross was about 4 miles up from the Missouri Gulch trailhead, headed towards Missouri Mountain in CO. The cross was 6 or 7 feet wide by about 9 foot long. It was getting dark and a little eery so I snapped a pick and ran back to the tent.

That Maine trip looks great. I'll have to get IP there next summer. This thread is great. Let's keep it going.

They go right past a few camps I know, my wife's parents camp and a friend's camp. I've been to many of those places before, it was a really neat thread to find.

Very old cemetery. Was thinking about what was happening in the world at the time these people were living. And also thinking that some put these headstones here that long ago. Was really cool to flash back in time (through thought of course).
