    Most interesting thing i've found in the woods (technically the desert) was the wreckage of a plane crash. I can't remember where exactly, but it was somewhere near the entrance to the Mojave desert on Kelbaker. This was almost a decade ago, I wish I had pictures.

    I did a little bit of digging around in my emails and found the picasa link still active from that backpacking trip. First picture is a younger, slimmer scrawny me.IMG_4760.jpg

    There were quite a few bits and pieces we found. This was maybe about a quarter mile hiking into the hills off Kelbaker after we stopped for a stretch break. I know we found some broken electronics equipment with labels on them that hinted at aviation radio equipment.

    It's quite possible. There is an index of wrecks in the Mojave because of the nearby Edwards AFB. We wern't even sure if it was a plane based on, like you said, how mashed up the site was.
