So I'm driving (2020 SR 4x4 2.7 15K miles) into The Big City yesterday. Had it on cruise control.
1/2 way there, the CC stops working and the dash lights up.
    'Cruise Control Malfunction'
    'Collision Avoidance Malfunction'
    'Low Battery'
    'Anti lock Braking Malfunction'
Well, I'm still in the middle of nowhere and the truck is still driving fine. Just all these dire warnings flashing at me. So I just keep on going.
Anyway, get done what I needed to, topped the gas off and head home. After I shut the engine off and restarted, all of a sudden everything worked again. Drove the 95 miles back home and no issues.
So.... Should I rush this to the dealer to have it checked or wait to see if it happens again? Then go to the dealer? I'm just worried, because I'm going on a 2800 mile round-trip, road trip in 3 weeks and don't want get stuck in the middle of Nowhere Nevada with the buzzards eyeballing me.
Has this kind of glitch happened to any of you out there?

Yes, I'd have them look it over. They might be able to pull some codes.

It was dry/sunny/cool out yesterday.. Had been raining for a week previously though.
I did sorta' have a similar prob last winter, where the cc and collision avoidance stopped working, but that was because the grill was caked with ice n' snow. And it didn't light up the dash.
I did pop the hood to give it a good look and everything looked OK (Mice can be a prob here) and I hose the engine bay down with that 'Rodent Defense' stuff every couple months ... Batt terminals where clean and tight...
I'm just wondering, since this is all computer-controlled stuff ... Ya know how every once in a while (I'm looking at you Windows) your PC will lock up for no apparent reason... And then you reboot and everything is fine? Like that.

Do you have any modifications on your truck? Are your taillights working properly (trust me on this one)?

Any ABS malfunction will disable the PCS and adaptive cruise control so don't worry about those warning lights.

I've never gotten all of those messages, but a month or so ago as I was leaving my neighborhood, driving maybe 30mph I got a warning message that Lane Departure was malfunctioning, BSM, and one other I don't remember. I stopped at a signal 100' later, turned the truck off, turned it back on again and everything was fine. In my case it was a little disconcerting since I had my GF and her kid with me and we were headed to the desert to do some four-wheeling. Truck never missed a beat the rest of the day and hasn't given me a problem since. I'm calling it a glitch. If it becomes a habit then my truck may make it's first trip to the dealer to have it checked-out.

FWIW The traction control on my '17 F-550 over the course of the past four years has also had occasional hiccups (in nearly the same place in my neighborhood as my Taco did). Same thing for that one, turn it off turn it on, problem goes away.

    Bottom-line, I wouldn't worry about it.

The only mods I have are:
A: Shell on the back ... Where they tapped the power for a dome light a 3rd brake light in the wiring that looks like what's going to the driver-side tail lights ... I'll have to check to see if all the tail/turn/BU are working OK. Pretty sure they are though...
B: A 800w inverter I installed. Those connections go straight to the batt terminals. All connections are soldered/shrink-tubed/plastic loom the whole length and tied down solid... So I think that should be OK.
C: Replaced the dome/map lights with LEDS.. Don't see that being an issue.
That's it. Everything else is rock-stock.

Ive had this happen before, I drove through a bunch of bugs and they covered the emblem that the sensor is located behind. All the same lights on the dashboard, cruise stopped working, etc. Got to the next exit, used the gas station squeegee, got the bugs off the sensor, has not happened again. Only other time it happened is when I installed the aftermarket TRD grille and it rained after install and it didnt like that. But no problems since then. I wouldnt worry eihter, just make sure the emblem in front of the sensor is clean-ish.

Is it throwing any codes at you?

If it does it might be C1425 which is a "Open In Stop Light Switch Circuit"

I don't have anything to read codes and haven't gotten it checked (Yet)... For me it's 1hr 20 mins to the dealer, or 1 1/2 hours to a parts store that read the codes for free. Of course my truck is still under warranty, so it should be free at the dealer. Maybe I should invest in one of those apps that come with the cable, so you can get the codes off your phone or laptop. Now days, that's starting to sound more and more like a tool everyone should have.

Update: Just in case anyone is interested... Well it's been 3 weeks and 1000 miles later .. Annnd ....
Everything has worked fine since. Just that one hiccup. Ended up not taking it to the dealer, just sorta' crossed my fingers. So far, so good.

My buddy once claimed his 2019 trd dash went crazy with the tire pressure display flashing on/off on his dash. He ended up taking it to the dealer where they disconnected the 12 volt battery overnight. It was fine the next morning. To this day no one knew what caused it. Dealer just told him they chalked it up to some bad electricity that got into the system.

If you have piece of mind then Im happy for you.. But, OBDII scanners are dirt cheap, and most autozones, orileys, or parts stores will hook up and pull codes. Its kinda like Gee my Heart stopped beating for a minute, oh well I'm feeling good now must of been something in the air. I carry a cheap OBDII scanner in rear cubby and use it just before each inspection to make sure everything is ready no surprises. For those Items to pop up something happened. Id definitely look a little closer even if just a volt meter on the battery before you start in morning.

    More Update:
Went on vaca/road-trip. The prob of the 'Cruise Control Malfunction' reared it's ugly head again. Happened 5 times during a 3K mile round trip.
It always ended up 'curing' itself by either shutting the engine down and restarting, or, once it went out and just came back on about 100 miles later.
    Sooooooo...
Took the truck into the dealer for 20K maint. Where I said 'Oh, BTW, I have a prob..'
Service manager plugged his device in and said it was pulling no codes. Wait a minute, WTF???
He said it would only show a code if the 'check engine' light came on. (Which it never did) I'm honestly having a hard time believing that, but what am I gonna do? Argue with him about it?
So, is he bullshitting me about that? I find it very hard to believe that any sort of malfunction... Especially one that electrical/computer related ... One that disables 3-4 other things... Doesn't show a code. What am I supposed to do? Just live with this forever? On a near-new truck?
    Any thoughts out there?

Selection A I think is causing it. A bad/loose tap causing intermittent short circuit. Tacoma is sensitive to those. It’s the only one related to brake light .I may be wrong though .

I guess it would be easy enough to find out... The connections are right there and I could just unplug the connector and see what happens..

My daughters '17 Rav4 gave a code once that rattled off a list of odd errors related to the traction control, adaptive speed control, etc... After Googling the code, we found that it was due to the gas cap not screwed down tight. Why it didn't give the normal evap code is beyond me. Tightened the cap down, and it cleared itself shortly and never came back.
