so I got a new truck and I noticed a weird issue with the headlights. When I turn the knob to the corner lights my headlights come on instead of the corners. At this point I can’t activate the brights except for pulling the stick for a flash. Then when I turn the knob to the headligh on position the headlights come on but a bit brighter than before and the brights work normally but I also hear a click coming from the center dash/ac area.

how possible would it be to get some wires crossed somewhere and why would anyone be messing with the wires in the first place? Could it have been intentional?

    EDIT: wording.

Honestly, I don’t know. They’re both burned out. But I did notice that this is only in AAC mode. When I turn the truck on the lights are always on.

If the lights are always on when you turn the truck on you have a short in the system

Which would explain the bulbs being blown

Wow that’s weird, I didn’t know that. It was bought in Texas. So not a Canadian model.

I thought they were just “parking lights”. I was always under the impression that DRLs are always on and are just for fancy looks.

Ok first off with the truck off check the battery voltage Write it down
Then turn the truck on and test again and write down voltage.

    Turn truck off

With the key in the second position. Right before start.

Turn the switch onto the first click.
Go to the side marker and remove the blown bulb
you can remove the socket so the electrical connector is exposed
Test for voltage. If u get a - value just switch the probes .

    Tell me what u get

Repeat the test of the side marker with the switch in the second position. ( where you would normally have it if u wanted the headlights on)

No worries, I'm always on, we'll go through it systemically until we figure it out.

On most older vehicles the DRLs burned the headlights at 80%. Turning the headlights on increased the brightness to 100%

Well that sounds like what’s going on with mine. The only other thing is that there’s a click coming from the passenger dash area when I turn them fully on. Never noticed a click when I turned them on in my Other first gen and I drove that for 10 years.
